EFT says Lv 5 only ups my light drone DPS by 6 points? (for 5 active drones on one target)
A corp mate told me that DI lv 5 showed next to no difference next to LV 4. I guess I am just a bit surprised being that the difference between 1,2 and 3 was very noticeable for everyone I spoke to.
What gives?
At level 4 is it more about drone sharpshooting or something in order to make my drone "kill faster"?

6 points doesn't mean anything. How much is the PERCENTAGE increase over the damage with Drone Interfacing IV? If it is +6% percent and I have misunderstood you, it is nothing to scuff at. |

You already have an *1.8 damage multiplier from DI4. That is replaced by *2.0 at DI5. The relative increase is just +11.11% instead of the "expected" +20%. It still is +20%, compared to base... but not compared to previous damage levels.
And it's not like this is anything special, all damage-related skills work like this. |

Most IV to V skills arnt going to show much of a differance. Usually the only reason to train to V is either if you wanna maximize or its a prereq for another skill. |

Edited by: Aten Hau on 11/01/2009 17:33:42 Thx.
I am still a bit confused though.
DI LV 5 is in essence a +100% bonus from base damage is it not? If warrior II's hit at 15 DPS (with damage mod) then should it not be 30 DPS at DI LV 5?
And thus 120 DPS on target if you are using 4 warrior II's? MY EFT is telling me its less.
I know this is a noobish question, but I am still at a bit of a loss

warrior II DPS:
damage modifier*(1+spec skill lv*0,02)*(1+combat drone op*0,05)*(1+drone interfacing*0,2) divided by ROF (4 seconds i think).
And no way 4 warriors deal 120 dps. IIRC 5 hobgoblins t2 (maxskilled) deal just tad below 100dps.

Negative..
I'm pretty sure it's:
First Level = Base + Base*.2 Second Level = First + First*.2 Third Level = Second + Second*.2
and so on, which is different.

Well, that's wrong.
Drone Interfacing gives a 100% boost of base damage at level V, however as Akita T explained the last 20% from level 4 to level 5 is effectively only an 11% increase. |

Except the fact Warrior IIs hit at 15 explosive damage * 1.56 damage mod / 4 seconds = 5.85 explosive DPS at no skills. 5.85 * 1.25 (combat drone op 5) * 1.1 (minmatar drone spec 5) * 2 (drone interfacing 5) = 16.0875 DPS at max skills on a ship with no drone damage bonuses. Compare that to a reasonable skillset (CDO, MDS, DI all at 4 not at 5), or 5.85 * 1.2 * 1.08 * 1.8 = 13.64688 DPS.
So, yeah, from just 4x Warrior IIs, from "all L4" to "all L5" skills, between them there's only a tiny 4*(16.0875-13.64688) = 9.76248 DPS difference.

Edited by: Kessiaan on 12/01/2009 03:53:13 I want to know what damage mod he's talking about that improves light scout drone damage.
Anyway, if you do the math like Akita is showing you'll see it all makes sense. DI V is a big time investment but if you're a frequent drone user that last little bit makes a huge difference. Remember that DI, CDO, drone spec skills, and ship drone bonuses stack multiplicatively with each other, and 11% is a lot even if the raw numbers don't look like much - 6 extra DPS to a frigate, especially the kind of frigates you need warrior IIs to catch, does make a difference. |

Well I do prefer the KIS approach, and that is simply put as... Base we can agree is equal to '1' Level 1 gives 20% to base so that = 20% Level 2 gives an aditional 20% =40% etc...... Level 5 is a total of 100% of base. 100% of 1 = 1. so 1+1 is 2 Your damage modifier for DI at 5 is now equal to '2' that as simple as it needs to be imo. anything more complicated than that takes to much explaining.
D...
ps KIS = keep it simple Pass that Ammerfore mate, Whats an ammerfore, its for banging in nails you bl**dy d**kfa. Whats a d**kfa? Omfg

unless he's talking about tracking mods, the only reasonable answer would be answered in your own post "... and ship drone bonuses..."
