Hi all,
Im stuck in a mission because my targeting is jammed by 4 ships with a massive shield tank. Jammed so bad that I can't get thru. So I thought I'll finally train the EW skill and fit an ECCM Projector. But as soon as I attemt to activate that module on one of the jamming ships, I get a concord warning. So basically I'm looking for a different option to frag these lil jammers.
Also, I dont know anything of this entire EW thing. What does sensor strength, signature strength, signature radius etc etc. Does anyone have a good page about it?

This will help: Clearing the Fuzz: Understanding Electronic Warfare.
Bear in mind that this is an old thread and has since been locked. However, it is still very accurate and will clarify Electronic Warfare for you. A recommended read for all who think they could learn about EW. |

It sounds like you have the right idea but are using the wrong mod. Projected ECCM is a mod that increses the sensor strengh of your target, it meant to be used on friendly targets to riase their sensor strengh and help prevent them from being jammed.
The mod you are looking for is a regular ECCM. This will raise your sensor strengh and help you out.
The concord msg will come up when ever you try to activate a 'friendly' mod on an NPC. So projected eccm, remote sensor booster, remote rep/booster etc.

Alternatively :
Blitz: Use a shuttle or any other (fast) preferred ship, get to the gate and use it, warp out when you get to pocket 2, mission completed.

Do not fit ECCM for missions!
I hope that was clear enough. ECCM increases your sensor strength, which will reduce the chance of "real" ECM modules (i.e. ones activated by players) affecting you. However, devs have confired that NPCs don't play by the same rules, and each jamming NPC just has a flat percentage chance to jam you. Fitting ECCM will just waste a midslot and will not reduce your chances to be jammed at all.
All you can really do is primary the ECM ships and try to take them out of the picture first (only certain Guristas ships use ECM, and some are better at it than others, so work down the list in threat order). Your drones will continue to attack after you are jammed, so once you order them to attack an ECM NPC they will keep doing it until that NPC dies. If you're getting jammed regularly, consider taking FOF heavy missiles in your cargo hold; these are self-targeting and do not require you to have a lock to work. They will go for the nearest "hostile" target - and their AI can be rubbish at times - so best bet is to get right on top of the ECM ship so the missiles choose it as their target.
Alternatively, just work on increasing your damage output so that you can pop the ECM ships quicker than they can jam you! THe chance based nature makes it more annoying when you have to sit out for 60 seconds in a row, but then again I've completely entire Guristas missions without being jammed once, so you have to take the rough with the smooth.

In light of what Gratel wrote, what you are after is... FOFs

Yeah, the Projected ECCM is like a remote rep for sensors. And using things like that on rats or outlaws will get you GCC'd. Also, rats use d3v h4x. Their torps still hit from 80km, they seem to never cap out and I'm pretty sure (but haven't tested) that the damps they used aren't nerfed.

Not sure if someone's mentioned this, but on the mission recon you're not supposed to attack them. Just run for the gate and get through. If you aggro them, you'll face the equivilent of a hard level 3 of firepower and ewar and likely die.
But on an ewar related note; ECCM doesn't work on missions, as far as I know. NPC jammers work differently to player ones. (Unconfirmed, just what I heard... they sure are frustrating) |
