Hey all
I was wondering maybe if ccp or someone has rough figures on a predicted income off new player base, when eve is released into shops. I may have missed it maybe somewhere on the forums or whatever but just wanted to know how many players ccp is expecting on the release off eve in a box. maybe only the market team could answer this, not sure but just wanted know what sort off effect a large possible number off players joining round a certain time will have on the servers but tbh real reason is the market tbh . |

I would suspect there is absolutely no way they'd release this information until long after they've already met any internal goal. Doing so would make them look bad if they wanted 50,000 and they only got 10,000. |

It is possible that only the marketing team could answer this. I would also like to know what sort of effect a large number of new players will have on the servers. However, my real concern is the EVE market .
Fixed that for you.

Oh, and it's an expansion, not a mere patch.
Besides, Microsoft has changed the standard now. There are no patches. There are only "title updates". Makes it more difficult to differentiate from new content versus fixed content.
However, in the world of EVE a patch fixes existing problems while an expansion opens up a whole new world of possible problems to necessitate later patc^H^H^H^Htitle updates! -- What's your EVE New Year's Resolution for 2009? |

Indeed.
It's not even simply bad spelling and grammar. If english isn't your primary language, that's one thing. If you produce a lot of typos or frequently misspell or misuse a couple of particular words, that's reasonable, too.
Then you have guys like that who simply don't have enough respect for the people they're asking help from. They can't be bothered to write out a reasonably thought-out sentence and treat every communication like it's a ****ing SMS message and leave it up to other people to decipher their idiot-speak.
Their most often quoted response is "I know how to spell and write - I just don't care to waste my time doing it because I'm online and who cares?!". The flaw in their logic being that if you know how to speak and write well, it actually takes MORE time and energy to do it poorly.
I love grammar and the English language. I don't care for online grammar ****s. On the other hand, I also don't care for people being lazy and expecting me to make up for their lack of consideration by pulling out a translator to comprehend their posts.

Well, in theory, an expansion should give you a bunch of new features and content, the we have patches that does the same on a smaller scale and then patches to fix bu... unintentional features... |

Fortunately, we don't have this problem where I work. Our software requires infinitely more fixes after release than it gets *features*. Lucky us :P -- What's your EVE New Year's Resolution for 2009? |

CCP has been very open with all their mumbers. It's almost unheard of in the mmo industry that we get the specs of the server clusters, number of subscribers, PCU ++.
You see SOE, NC soft and Blizzard hold these cards thight to they chest, allthough WOW naturally give us the 11 million users promotion.

Yes, as I said - they will certainly share numbers after the fact. Nobody in their right mind would set themselves up for appearing to fail if they give a certain number before hand and it isn't reached. So no, I sincerely doubt there will be an estimated goal for how many people they plan on with the box. But in a month afterward, perhaps they'll give real actual numbers that have come from it. -- What's your EVE New Year's Resolution for 2009? |
