Just wanted to whether or not selling GTC's for ISK is against the terms of service. I've read a few articles on it, but I'm still unsure and worried of potentially being banned. Also, if it is legal, what is the going rate for GTC's, and would anyone here be willing to purchase a GTC with ISK from me?
Thanks! |

AFAIK they can be sold within the terms of the EULA in two ways: 1. via the eve-online.com forums, specifically here 2. via the in-game "PLEX" (pilot's license extension?) item
The in-game PLEX items are created from the GTC via the ESC menu "Convert ETC" button (uncertain of the button's exact wording; use your head). Converting the 60 day GTC will yield two PLEX items good for 30 days each. Those PLEX items cannot be moved from the station by any means, so make certain you're docked where you want to sell them.
Scamming via the timecode forum will net you a ban, so don't do it. Scamming of the PLEX items is no different than scamming with CNRs.

Edited by: Iridescent Moon on 12/01/2009 18:29:07 FYI
There are several people that try and scam people for PLEXs on contracts. If you choose to go that way be vary careful. You have no recourse if you get scammed selling a PLEX in game.
kate bean is an alt that has been trying to scam people for PLEXs by spming in local a contract to by them for 451 million. The contract is set for 451,000. CCP will not help you if you fall for this kind of thing. On an additional note kate bean appears to be on alt of the person running Lightyear Industrals (2 man corp with HQ in Jita 4-4no less). She has been spamming scam contracts from that corp in Jita local. Don't buy anything from Lightyear Industrials.
As to the PLEX themselves. You may as well do it in Jita. They can not be moved but they can be used from anywhere in Eve. The main reason for using Jita is that Marketeers with money to burn have been bumping up the price of PLEXs at a steady rate. (kinda like any tradeable good) What this means is that the Jita buy price is always higher then the forum buy price. On to p of this you don;t have to look for a buy order, you can just sell to the highest buy order on the market and get your ISK with less hassle (or put up a sell order if you have time).
Under normal circumstances I would predict that the PLEX market would crash somewhere at the beginning of March. The problem is that is when the next expansion, and T3 no less, is going to be launched. Expansions always bring back old players, people with enough ISK to buy inflated PLEXs. At this point I am stumped as to when the crash will occur. Occur it will though.
Finnaly, this is the forum your looking for. It is the only legal way to trade GTC for ISK outside of PLEX Linkage

Very nice post here however this last part is dead wrong. GTC's can only be legally traded via the GTC Secure Trading system. Any website forum can be used, legally, for GTC trades. You must absolutely use the GTC Secure Trading System. (If you don't you risk scam or ban.) The Timecode Bazaar is the only forum on the Eve Online website that GTC trade posts are allowed. |

You are correct Shar, my mistake. The trade deal can be made anywhere but the ISK transfer must be though the Eve-O GTC/ISK system.
