I plan on going to 0.0 to do a bit of freelance rating.
I had a question about safe spots and logging off. Lets say I'm ratting, someone pops in and I warp to my safe spot and log off.
Can they scan down my logged out ship and destroy it? Can they scan down the location I'll be popping back in when I log in?
I know it's a noobish question but I appreciate any help. |

nope, iirc, only if you have PLAYER aggresion would they be able to scan you down
if you had player aggresion, and you log off, your ship warps to a safespot (even if you log in a safespot, it will still warp like 1 million km away)
your ship remains in space for 15 minutes after player aggresion if you log out, so you CAN be found in that 15 mintues, then your ship simply dissapears
secondly, if you logoffski inside a bubble, your ship wont warp out at all, even if you dont have aggresion |

Bubble = aggression (for the HIC and the target)
Apart from that you're right - no aggro, no worries.

Yes and Yes, you will die - it's best just to not go to 0.0 solo. Ratting there safely is practically impossible if your first thought is "log off when anyone enters system" so don't even try. Also, I can recommend many good single player games for you where you don't have to quit playing in order to avoid all human contact.

being cloaked in your SS also works, just make sure that there arn't any cans around you.
Also beware of the 30 second scanners. take you 30 seconds to go to your SS (depending on how far it is, your ship warp and align speed) Then amount of seconds it takes to log off until your ship warps off. Then 1 min from there untill you disapear.
easiest way to avoid this is by chosing a SS atleast 14 au from anything, especially gates.

God damn, this loggoffski bull$hit has got to stop.
It is only an accepted exploit because there is no quick way to prove you didn't just lose connection innocently.
Fit a cloak or warp core stabs but for your own pride never log off in defeat.
Now a new generation of '09ers will mature with this as their best form of defence with less and less skill.
This in turns mean they whinge more, which means the nerf bat swings more often.
Do your bit to save PvP, don't log off...., only the [insert certain european country here] do this and look at them now. __________________________________________

Or you could just rat in an area controlled by an alliance with an NRDS policy. FDN, PXF and CVA all have this policy.

Just as a sidenote: When you think someone can't scan you that fast...you are mostly wrong.
Be it that "last rat" or I'm in my safe...those good scanners are fast, and thus deadly. SO if really want to be on the safe side...INSTANTLY get out! (dock, cloak, jump) |

I'll echo this. Sitting an SS cloaked but logged on you're safe, if you log off, even if you don't have aggression, a skilled prober can find you and aggressor you in the one minute it takes for you disappear. Don't be like me and learn this little lesson the hard way.
If you don't have a cloak but are in a reasonably fast-aligning ship, just warping around until they get bored and leave will work as well. |

14AU relates to the directional scanner, not to recon probes.

i have scanned down people doing just this found there ss and ship after they logged off.. when i went to aggress the ship it vanished so i dropped a warp bubble and waited when they logged in they warped back into the bubble and popped they went. sometimes it takes some recon work finding where about they are if they are smart enough to ss far from everything but generally not safe unless you have friends in said 00 area... |

Most accurate probes are 5au. Anything more than that will take more than 1 probe. By staying 14AU away from celestial objects (planets, belts etc...) they can't start off by using the most accurate probe. This gives the player a better chance.
If your SS is within 14 au of the gate they will know exactly what shiptype you are and what direction. Within seconds of jumping into a system they can drop a probe and find you within 30 sec.

I'm assuming by your comments rubico1337 that you are one of these players that logoff?
If this is the case I'm afraid you are anything but 1337... __________________________________________
