You can't force everyone to go out there so you have something to shoot at...
Why don't you guys PvP against yourselves if you like fighting so much?
Why don't all you pirate corps declare war on each other and have a bru-ha-ha out in 0.0 and let alone the players who don't want to be forced into PvP?
Are you only interested in fighting those who are not trained to fight back? Is that it?
Because I'am a Pirte and I'am playing my role as one! Not just do Pk coz then I wouldn't ransom the week old ladies in the dark backally (Ab) would i?
And which law has seen me do it?
Ok to not be able to shoot infront of a sentry but when I make up with risk what u earn it should be ok, I loveflying a cruiser in theese situation and this is not a very smart thing to pilot theese days when sentrys acting like they do.
Remember the sign when entering 0.4?
Ok to safe up the gates but this is pathetic and the go out to 0,0 part perhaps suits a pure Pk but not a roleplaying Pirate.
Makes it clearer for u?

seems like the pirates are finally being treated as criminals imo. The fact that you can't gank little friggies and haulers anymore because you get flagged is something you just have to adapt to, or go down to 0.0 and play...

Hello
We are playing a part in theese sectors and we should do, can understand that newbie player get sad when ganked at a gate when a mission sends them there, but the ones that choose to go to a belt in 0.4 and down know the risks involved and thoose risk should stay.

Zarquon Baby,
As soon as there's actual Pirating - opposed to just ganking that everyone calls 'pirating' strangely enough - I would support your proposed changes. Unfortunately, ganking in 0.5+ is not a form of entertainment you can base EVE's financial wellbeing on so these changes were necessary.

Well yes 0.4-0.1 is still unsecure, you can still get ganked while you mine etc, but the fact that the sentries now actually fire on criminals is something I don't see anything wrong with it. You chose a criminal life, now live with your decision

Even before this change you couldn't really pirate near gates in 0.4 and under in anything but a BS simply because frigates and cruisers die really easily to even 2 sentry gun turrets.
Eeh Josh you can`t even defend your self anymore now if you are -5.0 at thoose gates if a players desided to shoot at you at that gate and you try to defend yourself you get shot at by the sentries.

If there were fewer pirates and they just attacked the occasional player then you most likely would not see sentries & concord like they are now.
But no, it took not just one but quite a few dedicated pirates to just sit at high sec locations Ganking new players. (You know who you are)
It must of been great fun for the pirates but misery for the victim that might of spent either hours or weeks for what they just lost.
I donĘt 100% agree with how things are now and it does reduce the scope of the pirates but due to the pure greed and the joy of causing as much misery to all who come their way, you inadvertently caused what we have now.
I think one of the major problems we have are the Devs knee jerk reactions to certain players figuring out how to circumvent rules, so the game gets changed and it becomes harder to accomplish certain acts.
I would rather see a, 3 strikes and out system being used, get 2 temp bans and if you get a 3rd no matter what it is your perm banned end of story.
But at the end of the day this game belongs to CCP not us, if you want to play it you pay and play by the rules if you donĘt like them then exorcise your right and leave.
My last words on this, Tough get use to it and adapt.

Pirates have it so hard in empire...
When will people realize that just because there is empire space doesnt mean it should be completely safe? The game needs pirates in empire, and it needs them to have a fighting chance to camp a gate without sentries blowing up their frigs and cruisers, and battleships seriously struggling against them.
As I posted above... oh, screw it, I've suggested staged concord responce for ages. But everyone else things 50 sentries with 100 AU range each at each station, gate, and asteroid belt is what is needed.
I just had a crazy thought. Why not make sentry guns do crap damage? They need a tracking nerf, too. Just a few days ago, my cruiser got blown up in empire because some sentries thought shooting blood raiders was an offence. ( I wasnt reimbursed, by the way.) I decided to suicide attack the sentry gun out of drunken boredom but even orbiting at 500m in my noobship the thing landed a wrecking hit on me for 800 damage.

Well, these changes don't stop anyone from pirating. They just stop you from walking away to another gate, system or station as though nothing happened.
All it needs is for the pirates to actually work a bit more - set up some safespots or wait at a moon until the flagging times out, before you go back and dock amongst the carebear herd.
It gives piracy a consquence, rather than just making it opportunistic ganking with no comeback.
If you want free fighting without concord, fight a war. If you want to be a pirate, accept it has drawbacks as well.

So what have actually changed? I can only see one thing that is different, you are stuck in system for few mins if you do something "wrong", nothing else.
You can only use battleships to camp gates, nothing new there.
You can only be a pirate in low sec. space, nothing new there.
You can kill others in low sec. space, nothing new there.
You can not dock or leave system after attacking someone, this is new.
And what effect will this have? You have to spend these minutes in system, hunting rats or hide from angry players (or log off because you are scared...). The other players can group and fit ships for pvp and go hunting, for few minutes before the flag goes away. You want pvp battle? Or do you only want "safe kills"? The only problem is that many of the "pirates" will log off and most of the rest will hide in safe-spot. Very few will hide somewhere else were angry players might find you.
So the only change I can see is that you "pirates" will have slightly more change of good pvp battles because of these changes.

Edited by: mafish on 27/07/2004 11:35:31 i love the argument adapt or move to 0.0 does anyone with this statment really have a clue what they are talking about atm a small pierat corp say 6-9 ppl moving around 0.4-0.1 catching ppl in belts then they use there duel mwd and 3 warpcore stabs to go to a gate follow finish off and get pounded by the guns but wait they have duel mwd'ed past so kills are very rare. the but of corse the obiuse sollution would be to move to 0.0 where you can pierat the areas that have 1-2 ppl in cos the bottle necks systems are mega camped or you can shoot someone then have 80 ppl chasing you.
imho i agree with Zarquon on this one the pirate role is dieing out and there is nothing any pirate can do because there are far more ppl who want it out than there are pirates

One comment about not being able to defend yourself when fired upon. I read in another thread that that is supposedly a bug.
If you are fired upon, you are supposed to be able to defend yopurself no matter what your sec status. They are working to fix that supposedly.
So lets make sure we distinguish between needed changes, and bugs.
As far as the other changes, I'm all for them.

Secondly, you're a ******* pirate. You're no better than scum in my books, as are the rest of your self-proclaimed "profession", which is a joke unto itself. Pirates are nothing but failures if you ask me; they can't abide by the law or participate in a legal profession, so they take out their frustration on other law-abiding pilots. You deserve to be destroyed by the Sentry Guns; in fact, I think CCP should change them so that Sentries pod your sorry ass on top of it all.
Your post has to be one of the most stupid I've seen in awhile, although I suppose I should expect no less from someone who takes out their failures in life on other pilots. You are nothing but a criminal, and it's time you faced that fact; if you don't like the taste of your true nature, then go change it. You can stop being the disruptive nuisance that Concord has lebelled you as quite easily; go hunt some enemies of the empire for awhile.
To summarize; Concord owns your ass *****. Now bend over.
EDIT: Did I mention it's balanced now? You low-lives can't come into empire space as long as you're a criminal, and we law-abiding citizens can not venture out into 0.0 (aka, Pirate Space) without being harassed, chased out, or otherwise destroyed until the end of time. I'd say the system works exactly how it should now. You'll be able to camp the chokepoints now, and that's about it; this is more than you deserve.
