I am here merely to vent my frustration. I played this game 4+ years ago and quit. I came back with my friends recently to give this game another chance. We decided we wanted to make a nice little industrial operation for ourselves. My friends and I are casual players but together I find we can accomplish large feats. I was going to be the one to pilot the rorqual for our operation. I was ecstatic. It was going to take a lot of time and isk but we were going to do it.
Yesterday I was made aware of an awful truth. Anything with a jump drive cant be in empire space. I believe this is completely wrong. This makes the game, once again, unplayable for me(us). I left the first time because of circumstances like this, and so did my friends.
Its not so much bad that the rorqual itself cant enter empire space, its that there is no high security alternative to the rorqual. There should be at least a rorqual equivalent with no jump drive that can compress ore. CCP or whoever should think about this and put one in the game. A watered down rorqual for high security space would certainly make things better for those of us that enjoy high security space. I say watered down because of course there always has to be SOME drawback.
I tried the whole low security thing, it doesnt work for me. It doesnt work for my friends either. I am not going to risk getting something taken away from me that I worked hard for and trained long for. To have to go into low security space just to get at the best stuff is unreasonable to require.
Hopefully I am not the only one in this position. |

Why do you need compression in high sec anyway?
But yea, the highsec Rorqal is the Orca. Great ship. Love it, use it. |

The speed with which you emoquit added to the complete failure on your part to do any ship research at all adds up to this not being the game for you. Quit while you're ahead. If not, then atleast quit posting. |

Yeah, of course the best stuff should be in HiSec.... Why can't we moon mine and do reactions in Empire, too? Why can't I buy my next Capital Ship off the NPC market in Jita?

It might have gotten a 2/10, but there's 4 other "No caps in highsec" whines all around it, and the OP didn't show up to defend his patently ******ed statements. ----------------

May I ask why would you want a Rorqual in high security space?
It's designed for large scale mining operations in deep space where there are no stations within a few jumps. Hence the large cargohold, compression and jump drive capabilities.
None which you need in high security space where there is at least one station in 99.6% of the systems, and most of them have 50% base refine.
If you run in to the problem you have to haul your mined minerals or ore further than the system you're in, that's why there are the freighter class ships.
Orca is a lot better in every way to suit highsecurity than a rorqual. It's a lot cheaper too, without the extra useless aspects of the rorqual. ------ Heart for isk, Balls for risk. |

Try any of the CITADEL TORPS instead. For instance, a 100-batch of Purgatory Torpedo I (3 m^3 per batch), with a mere 5 minute base production time per batch. Tritanium 35900, Pyerite 26450, Mexallon 260, Isogen 20, Nocxium 20, Zydrine 10 That's a nearly 12:1 Trit compression at almost 120 trit/sec with no skills/research. Sure, you also compress some Pyerite and highends, but then again Pyerite could also use some damned compression and it's available in bulk at rock-bottom prices (and the Mex doesn't really hurt much either), while all the rest of the highends combined uncompressed are a puny half a cubic meter if you chose to haul them back.
The rest of the citadel torps have other advantages or disadvantages.

Yeah, because we want Titans in high sec.

Ever heard of the Orca?
Originally by: Point Blank There should be at least a rorqual equivalent with no jump drive that can compress ore.
There has to be some advantage to taking the risk and moving out into low/nullsec. Ore compression is one thing. Give that to high sec and you have even LESS of an incentive to head out in to more dangerous space.

This is where you truly fail. Have you even read anything about what EVE is all about? EVE is a dangerous, exciting and risktaking game. It's MEANT to be consequences to your every action, and risk = reward. Unreasonable to require low security for the best stuff? Wth? Do you get epics dropping from random lolmobs in WoW? No, you need to form up a raid and go there and put your hours into it. I agree, there's zero risk to that, but it's the same thing. You need to invest in order to get anything. In EVE, your investment is risktaking.
Originally by: Point Blank Hopefully I am not the only one in this position.
Unfortunately you aren't, but thankfully CCP has a vision for their game that they will not deviate from. This is what sets EVE aside from other games, like Hello Kitty Online or its equivelant; World of Warcraft.
You mention "your friends" a lot. I'm starting to believe that those friends are mostly imaginary.
Now, I'm gonna stop being an ass and just tell you: If you wanna stick to high sec and mine, get an Orca. It's basically baby-Rorq. |

You and your friends should join a 0.0 alliance. You could do all your mining ops easily there. Of course you'd have to give something back to the corp/alliance. After all, it's a symbiotic relationship. |

I suspect EVE isn't the game you're looking for. I suggest you try out some of the other games that are on the market such as World of Warcraft (I'm serious). |

What I can't figure out is how him and his friends did any mining in empire before the rorqual? How is this possible?

No. They cannot use their shields in subspa... No, that's Shivans' weakness. Oh yes I got it. They cannot use their DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD in lowsec. So they won't be able to fire it in hisec. TO THE KILLMAILSSSS!!!
