I don't get this. It is my understanding that NPC pirates respawn in an asteriod belt with in 2-30 min. randomn. However we have come across several belts in the far off areas of EvE where the pirates constantly spawn. These are belts with high end pirates (nullifier, aniahalator, blah blah blah). I personally like this but it has raised some concerns. Here they are:
1. Is this working as intended or is it a glitch?
2. The chances at getting high end loot are much easier.
3. The money that is earned far exceeds the earning capacity of any other in this game except very high end strip mining or highly organized trade caravans in large numbers.
4. Projectile and Hybrid turret users kind of take it in the *ss on the money end over laser users. Since lasers do not rely on ammo and if balanced right can keep firing with out need a cool down period for cap recharge. I use 2 heavy beam lasers on my caracal on one set up and it is nice. But not balanced in terms of economic efficiency when compaired to projectiles or hybrids. Maybe this is one of the ways mOo got such nice loot and cash (if they found these types of belts also).....
When PvP is not really going on these uber fast spawning field are a lot of fun. But I think if it is working as intended then there needs to be a balance in the cash area made in point #4. You can clear over 8-10 million or more in an hour if you can go non-stop.

If you donŠt kill them fast enough they keep respawn. Like kill 4 keep one alive and 4 more will spawn. Thats how must of us hunt. Chain spawn/pulling on purpose.
And Drones are perfect for that usage, since no ammo, no cap and guns ready in any case. And you can keep shieldbooster on when waiting for spawn if needed.

Yep.. it has something to to with how long you take to kill them. I was trying to keep a roid belt clear on my own and I could not kill them fast enough.. we had about 30-35 rats spawn. A friend of mine jumped in to help and we where able to kill them quick enough to keep them from respawning. So it seems time is a factor when it comes to killig them.

Shintai -
These fields are usually populated by 4-6 pirates at a time. As soon as the last pirate pops 4-6 more instantly respawn. You may kill them as fast as you like. They just respawn over and over and over. The cargo containers build up so fast we have to start to destroy some due to lag.
In other words if you kill all of the pirate spawn in 1 second they will respawn a full load of them again.

OK, in that case it is just the fighter support that respawns or do the cruisers respawn too? That could be a good trick....

Arh..tried that a few times too...they usually stop after 50-120 ships when going crazy.

Well we go in 3 hour stretches and they don't stop. I have not keeped track on the numbers though. Once more ppl get out of little boring empire space and find these rich belts I think there is going to be a balance issue in regards to weapon types used. Using lasers is just too damn efficient at killing these pirates money wise :) .

Wretch,
I totally understand what you're talking about. I stayed in a roid field for an hour in my rifter killing angel depredators and hunters. They just kept spawning and spawning.
I don't agree with the imbalance in the weps you mentioned. I really can't speak to hybrid weapons since i never used them, but as for projectile weapons I thought it was ok. They reduced the cargo space taken by ammo by a factor of 10, so I could litterally carry thousands of rounds with no problem. I'd much rather use my cap power on shield boosters and EW. There was a lot of loot, but I prioritized it and blew up any non-uber items. The only reason I left was because I wanted to lay back and relax for a bit |

ive known pirates take over 2 hours to spawn sometimes....
i like the new way they work, spawning randomly and not always in the same place and not always the same pirates either.

Weapon type has nothing to do with it really. If your using projectiles and fighting Angels, or Hybrids fighting Serpentis/Gueristas with mediocre weapons the pirates will drop more ammo than you can shoot at em.

Uh pure groups of 4-6 nullifier (MoA) or aniahalators (Caracals) or mixtures of the two are not so simple. Especially the aniahalators when they launch a huge wave of heavy/cruise missles (up to 25 all at once in some waves). The firework show from these pirates are a fun sight though.
Picking up the ammo does help sometimes, but still restrictive when compaired to hunting with just energy weapons.
Now imagine these spawning non stop - good luck getting to all the cargo and finding the ones that drop the ammo you need.
What I really want to know is why they constantly spawn in some of these belts. I mean the ore in most of these are complete trash too. There are belts with lots of megacyte yeilding ores where the pirate are no where near the threat level or annoyance.
