How about making the shock of taking eight heavy weapons to the ship a little more intense? Maybe if a battleship hit a cruiser or frigate it would change direction or even stop for a short time, or the screen would flip out, you know something a little more shocking that you just got hit by eight guns that add up to a volume probably bigger than your ship. How about some alarm that goes off when your shields rupture, and when you enter hull, and alarm to tell you that your weapons are over 50% overheated. Just some things to make combat more dramatic. The same goes for capitals hitting battleships. |

It's been discussed in the past, I really like the idea. Apparently the problem is that it's too difficult to calculate the vectors. |

Why not a 25% Increase chance to wreck on anything smaller than yourself?
Shields Holding? "Shields are holding." (Repeated once every five minutes in a battle.) Shields Failing to tank? "Warning, Shields are being overwhelmed!" (As above) Shields ar 50%? "Shield Integrity at Fifty Percent!" (Spoken whenever shields hit 50%) Shields Fail? "Warning, Shields are down!" (Spoken every time shields hit 0%. Only repeated if shields go back up to 25% and back down again.)
Armor Holding? "Armor is resisting damage. Plating integritity remaining at Optimal." (Repeated once every five minutes in a battle.) Failing to Armor tank? "Warning, Armor Plating Damaged!" (As Above) Armor at 50%? "Warning Armor Damage approaching Critical levels!" (Spoken whenever Armor hit 50%) Armor fails? "Warning, Armor Protection Compromized. Superstructure taking Damage!" (Spoken every time Armor hit 0%. Only repeated if Armor go back up to 25% and back down again.)
Hull Holding? "Hull sustaining minimal damage. Integrity holding." (Repeated once every five minutes in a battle.) Failing to Armor tank? "Warning, Superstructure Taking heavy damage!" (As Above) Armor at 50%? "Warning Structural Damage approaching Critical levels!" (Spoken whenever Armor hit 50%) Armor fails? "Warning, Abandon Ship! Warp Core collapse imminent!" (Spoken as your ship explodes.)
When Armor or Shields hit 50% There should be an alert siren. Quite low, however, so not to be annoying. If the Armor fails and hull takes damage, then there should be a louder, more dramatic siren, and the Empty portion of the hull damage bar should flash red.
More atmosphere? Yes please!

That only gives me the ambient atmosphere of being a crazy person.
I play EVE atlweast partially for the sci-fi immersion. It's very little work for the devs getting more voiceovers. All it really takes is someone to do voice acting. I'm sure many members of the Dev team or eve players would love to give their voice.

actually audio cues that have tactical significance would be great and are one of the most glaring omissions from eve imo. Like one of the posters above described, it could be voice queues at different shield and armor states, but even beeps and boops would be awesome. Besides the state of your tank, the audiovisual warning system should also tell you about being targeted, fired at with guns or missiles, jamming, scrambling etc. Battle should not sound boring with just the occasional boom and whoosh, but an ongoing symphony of beeps, boops and other warning sounds. Fighter planes have had these kind of audiovisual warning systems for ages. our superduper space age ships should have them too. why do i want it? well i have lost most of my ships while fixin a sammich. if it would have beeped when i got attacked, i might have lived. |
