Mort's of Caille is rolling out a pilot Line of Credit program. Membership is currently invite-only, but some of you may receive requests to take a line as payment. Rest assured this is a secure transaction, all lines are fully backed. Follow the instructions of the lineholder and read through the website they provide you.
Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Jasper Pravitas in-game for more assistance. |

Edited by: cosmoray on 16/01/2009 05:11:39 Your an escrow service? You hold peoples credit and they "buy" something off me, and you pay me? You think you are gonna be the PayPal of Eve? You have no rep, so why should someone use you. If someone wants a product off me, they can buy it. For hard cash!
Follow the iunstructions and lose your ISK. Sound like an Eve equivalent of a mail fraud scheme to me?
You better explain or I wouldn't accept payment through this or follow any "payment instructions" in a million years!

As an aside, I'm a bit surprised that the present Eve banks don't offer lines of credit to corps (at least that I know of). I bet most corporations don't have cash flow problems. They just suck in money and hoard it. But there's got to be a significant number that engage in trade and other activities where cash can temporarily dry up. Then they might need to borrow isk for a few hours or days. In my case, it'd be handy to have even a few hundred million isk line of credit (say at 1% per day) that I could pay off in hours. I often draw down my cash in trades (I have margin trading IV) and there have been a couple of times when I didn't have enough isk to back my largest buy orders.

I'm not 100% sure about this (just mostly sure), but I think ebank does offer lines of credit in certain situations where certain criteria are met. If you are interested you should talk with Ricdic.
Quote: Ricdic (about starting ebank, July 2007): Think of it as a miniature EIB done right. I cannot see this getting anywhere near 700b any time in the future tbh.

15 million? I wouldn't even log into Eve for 15 million ISK.

Correct, we have credit lines for our good customers. Usually those with good credit history with EBANK or who have proven themselves in the field (previous investments or ingame achievements etc). Mostly a credit line is an unsecured loan people can pull from when they need it hence why it's only available to select low-risk individuals or corporations. |

Our line of credit service is intended to be very much like paypal and is designed for smaller amounts. Folks with large amounts of capital don't need something like this. We're currently extending credit to three pilots at 5M apiece, each of them highly trusted. The 15M with Dbank is to back up those lines. This is a testbed to work out any kinks in the payment process before we begin approaching higher-risk individuals.
The website thats used for the payment exchange is an invite-only wiki and I'm not interested in inviting everyone from MD to look it over. In the unlikely event someone receives a request to make payment, look over the page for yourself. Keep in mind that all of your transactions are backed up to 15M with the funds Dbank has in escrow.
PS One additional note, the line of credit isnt only through the payment page, lineholders can request their funds from a Mort's teller as long as one of us is online. The page is only for those times when we are offline or in a recurring payment arrangement.

Edited by: MailDeadDrop on 16/01/2009 16:57:18 I'm assuming that the "requests to take a line as payment" will only be sent to contract-makers, as the sellers on the open market are unknown to the buyers (your pilot-clients in this case) until the purchase is made, which kinda requires that the buyer have had the ISK in their wallet. (Sorry for the convoluted sentence.) Since the pilot-clients each have a 5M line of credit, that means they would be purchasing things off contracts for 5M or less. I'm not in game at the moment, but that seems to be a fairly limited scope (basically those things that cannot be sold on the broker market, like BPCs). This is because the contract fee (10K) takes a fairly serious bite versus the broker fee.
Restated: your lines of credit only impact sellers in the case where the seller is selling via contracts.
