Help In Space [HEELP] is a non-profit corporation started by vet alts who want to help newbies with Eve Online.
We offer assistance to anyone in empire. We are funded by donations from the various large alliances of 0.0 space in an attempt to prolong the lifespan of new players coming in to our game and to give people a place to train and learn and even to get job placement into any major 0.0 alliance if they later choose.
We are not asking for members or funding, although we accept both. We help newbies by giving them ships, skillbooks, training, and knowledge for whatever field they wish to get in to. We "profit" from this by knowing who to contact in the future to obtain services.
An example: Jim is a new pod pilot. He wants to be a ship builder. We assist him, as we assist all newbies. Later down the road, when we need ships built, we know where to look and maybe we can get a discount.
We accept all donations.
If you are a newbie, we can help. Contact Mother Evette in game today! |

So if someone was to say wanting to be a trader , you would give them a hauler and the proper funding and the knowledge to be a succesfull trader , at pretty much nothing but cost and time to you? |

Why does this belong in the M&D forum anyway? Seems better suited to the new player corner.
That said, I'm fairly new. I could use a couple cap ship books and a Moros. You'll know who to contact in case you want a POS bashed in the future. |

Correct. We ask for no long term deals, you don't need to join our corp, and we don't take money from newbies or scam them.
We are made up of a collection of 0.0 alliance vets who use this character as their main "front woman" to speak to people.
Our goal is to turn the average stay of a player from a few months to a few years, so our presence can only benefit the people around us.
For security purposes, we will never reveal who our donations come from, who is actually running the corp (rest assured, it is a coalition of various 0.0 alliance big wigs), or who is being helped (they may become targets for griefers later on).
As stated, we are not asking for any money or manpower, but both are accepted and will be used to help newbies. Since we are not offering to recruit anyone, the proper place would be in the same place that new IPOs are revealed. This forum. |

This isn't a new IPO, as far as we (I) know this is just an alt begging for isk. Original, I'll give you that.
This has nothing to do with the discussion of market related topics. Your corp's activities has nothing to do with market related activities.
I can think of at least three fora were this topic would fit better than MD. |

begging is bad you know.
At end of the day the best help you can give a newbie is throw them to the wolves and see if they survive, if they do great, if they don't they can go back to wow.

Such a well used frontwoman, with a total forum presence of the posts within this topic.

Eve-Uni have been doing this for some time - without asking for ISK via the MD forum. Thus is not the sort of example you should be setting for your new players.
The first lessons you should be teaching them is how to support themselves - you can then use these donations plus a moderate tax rate to buy the stuff they need - "give a man a fish" and all that stuff.
Asking for donations for a "not for profit organisation" is highly suspect IMHO. If vets want to help newbs they can do so whithout needing the MD community's wallets, take 3-5 mil to help a newb learn to fumd himself/herself, peanuts for a "vet"

Where it should be highlighted for New Players as something to avoid. Anything in EVE being advertised to "help" you, coming from an alt, should set off alarm bells.
Welcome to EVE.

Really the best place to go for help is this very forum, the various guides people have written, and of course player corps who accept newer players (I did that, and they helped me lot). I seriously doubt any corporation exists just to help newbies (except for Eve-Uni, which I've seen often mentioned) without expecting something in return. Heck, people make ISK by scamming new players out of their hard-earned ISK just to cause grief and a few extra mil in their own pockets for their greedy ways.
Ah, EVE. Sounds like real life, doesn't it? |

Well even if this guy is a scammer and i think he is he does have one point right. With eve being extremely harsh game and totally new player unfriendly. If i did not have a guy recruit me in a newbie corp all the way back I would nopt be playing today. Its not the fact you go to low sec and get killed its the fact that ppl are extremely paranoid and not social. You say hello in local try it how many ppl will nswer and have chat with you? We are running record numbers but i have seen posts from eve university about new player numbers going down and with the rampant altism i think these numbers are really more ppl making alts then actually ppl coming to eve.
When you have a newbie corp to guide explain and make foolish cruiser sucide runs in you meet ppl you like and have fun with. I still chat with ppl i met in me 1st corp in 2005. I know the guy was making money of taxes and paid us peanuts but remember when you cant fly anything good enough even peanuts are great pay.
But nothing is for free my first ceo build ships for mineral cost which we had to pay. He filled hangars with crap that you recycle from missions and made us ammo but that was it. So i would be highly suspicious of this guy that offers too much stuff for free. I hope more ppl will do this for new guys or iam afraid we will become Solaria |
