Blue screen of death, running EVE

Reven Darklight 256 FREELANCERS FREELANCER ALLIANCE	Posted - 2009.01.17 06:22:00 - [1] I just ran eve and i got to the character selection screen and my computer blue screened and died. so i though thats ok it happ[ens. so i turned it off and turned it back on, so i let it reboot and then i ran eve again. Got to the character selection screen and then blue screened again. Can anybody tell me if this is an issue that i can fix please?

Sheriff Jones Amarr Clinical Experiment	Posted - 2009.01.17 08:35:00 - [4] If neither helps, take out one memory at a time and check if one of them is busted. Also could be a harddrive problem, try reallocating EVE to a different folder.

Eve is only made for windows mac and linux so for it to run on BSoD O/S is really impressive! Does you haz hax? By the way, does it annoy you when you didnt realise that you were reading my sig?

I'll try running it again shortly and see if i can turn the music off and if it still happens I'll see if i can get the error code. I'll also re-download the client and see if that does it too. Thanks so far for all the help
Antimony Noske	Posted - 2009.01.17 11:30:00 - [9] I'll just add that I recently alt-tabbed out of Eve and got a BSOD as well. The message didn't stick around for me to write down the error code, unfortunately. I just wrote it off as a small hiccup though, since it hasn't happened since. Must have been a stray cosmic ray.

Reven Darklight 256 FREELANCERS FREELANCER ALLIANCE	Posted - 2009.01.18 06:44:00 - [12] ok well it worked a few times but then I tried running it again a few minutes ago and same issues. i got the hex stuff this time though and it read something like. 0x0000008e(0xc0000005, 0xb7493ac0, 0xb6f34174, 0x00000000) and thats after having re-downloaded the client, and I'm only running classic. I'll re-try disabling sound again to see if that helps

This is a critical sign of an unstable system that is typically caused by improper maintenance of the computer. Well that is what google brings up. Granted the source of those is people who want to sell you stuff to "fix" your computer so not sure how accurate they are. My first guess would have been graphics card issue, bad driver or overheating (long shot since it happens so early). ------ I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
Reven Darklight 256 FREELANCERS FREELANCER ALLIANCE	Posted - 2009.01.18 07:25:00 - [14] ok as I've said earlier, it only happens to EVE. playing WOW (yes i know and i appoligise for playing this), Pirates!, Mech warrior 4, C&C Generals and i have no problems. I've had eve installed on this computer for 6 odd months and its only happened recently having said that none of these games are really brand new and going to make this computer struggle. it could be a heat problem i guess, it is the middle of summer which means 40C+ days (104F) I'll try again later and see what happens.
xCougar	Posted - 2009.01.18 08:51:00 - [15] I had a similar issue with EvE causing my computer to bsod My issue was with my audio drivers, fix is -right click my computer and go to manage -go to the sound, video .... group and disable your audio drivers -Launch Eve again and see if you BSOD Other then that more information like your Hardware, OS, etc. is always welcome when trying to troubleshoot issues (note, you will not have sound on your computer at all if this is the issue, and you will need to find new audio drivers that dont cause BSOD in eve)
