Does killing outlaws raise your Sec.?
If it doesn't, why the hell not? Killing pirate faction rats raises sec status- shouldnt popping and/or then podding an outlaw do the same (and to a greater degree as i assume even the most challenged outlaw is harder to kill than a belt rat.)
Yes, yes. Probably better in features and flaming of ideas, but its relevant to you ebil blinkies so i thought i'd bring it up here first.
Can anyone see any downsides to this? (and yes, bounty hunting as a profession is frankly pretty gimped) |

I kind of agree. it would probably get more people into low sec, for if the reward was indeed decent, then that quick gain wuold be nice boost. proportionate gain in regards to the sec of the podded pilot would be nice. Though, it can be open to abuse this system
Player A needs boost
player B gets low sec status on alt
Player A kills player Bs' alt. gets gain.
Player B deletes alt.

It'd be too easy to exploit, as above poster pointed out. Just get an alt to commit crimes, then have your main pop him over and over again. Voila. Your ebil main is now a hero. |

There should be a easy fix to that, simply make ss increase related to what ship you killed to the extent that it couldn't be exploited |

Agh yes. so kill a -10 mothership, and get more sec stat than killing frigate. In fact, sec gain should perhaps only apply to battlecruisers and above. With none for a T1 Frigate, and destroyer, cruisers, and shuttles. Splendid.

Actually, i was more interested in the effects on the pirate/outlaw community such might have- rather than the mechanics that would support sec gain by killing outlaws.
(That aside- limiting sec gain to the 'largest', that is to say lowest sec, outlaw per 15 minutes as sec gain for ratting is...might work. Add in only one sec gain given out per individual outlaw to each person per 24 hours to stop people farming the same huy every 15 minutes...)

True, but why bother really?
If you made the sec increases on the level of what you get from destroying faction rats, it would make a poor alternative to do it with your alts.
Of the choice of making hundreds of millions ratting or spending your time podding an alt, which one would you take? |

I am of the mind that it would be a bonus to killing an outlaw- not the motivation, if set up properly.
If bounty's were fixed as well bounty hunting might actually be worthwhile... |

Good idea.
But, if im -10 i wana stay -10. And if by killing other pirates/outlaws i might get a sec gain and my precious -10 goes bye bye.
Maybe if your already a criminal, you dont get sec gains. And can only gain sec by killing NPCs.
If it was implemented, i think killing a player pirate should give a bigger amount of sec status than an NPC. And you would also have to put it on "diminishing returns" so that people didnt abuse it.
It would be good because, it would give carebears a reason to hunt pirates and add abit of population to low sec (cause thats where the pirates hang out) |
