I just started playing (literally, this morning).
From reading the forums, it seems that mining/hauling is the (generally) quietest portion of the game overall. What are the best cargo/mining ship setups in the game right now?
Also, any corps need a dedicated miner/hauler/transporter? Just need some time to figure out the game first, and getting better with travel. ------------ Elucidate - Extraordinarily Lazy Miner |

as he said, but you can probably only fly frigates. For each race their is a frig that gets bonuses with mining lasers. Just use that to mine, and train for your races best hauler. If you need help with anything also feel free to talk to me ingame. _______________________________________________________

Thanks for the welcome, and the information.
Definately looking forward to learning more about this game. Miner/Hauler a pretty good starting profession to deal with, or are there others that do better for beginners? ------------ Elucidate - Extraordinarily Lazy Miner |

At your level, best mining frigate would have to be the Probe, Minmatar frigate. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Instead of training gallente industrial to level 5 for the iteron you might better off training Minmatar industrial for the Mammoth. It takes only a week or so to train instead of 6 weeks and has only 30% less capacity. Good unless you absolutly have to have the best hauler.
If your just mining until you can fight though. Skip the iteron..

Also a new player here
had enuff time before the patch hit to finish the tutorial and run 2 missions as well as take my reaper out for a couple of mining explorations.
My Question is related to this, as i said only managed to play for an hour and not sure how to upgrade to my frigate, can i just train up to it or do i need to buy it. Still trying to figure all this out
So different to EQ heh, i actually had fun tonight for the first time in months, cant wait for the patch hour to be finished so i can get back into it

both, you'll need to buy any ship you intend to fly, but you will also need to train the skills required to pilot that ship. ------------------------------------------------

Just a little update to my situation:
I recently joined Power Corrupts Corp. Very nice, small group. Cool people for sure :)
I am now: Flying a Maulus w/ 2x Miner 1 Lasers.
On my own, I've made approximately 100k isk in about 2 hours (made more working with the corp in a big mining op earlier in Teshi). A corpmate gave me the Maulus and the 2 Miner 1 Lasers came from 2 different people that didn't use them anymore.
I'm currently getting Frigate trained to 3, then mine skill trained to 4 (so I can use miner2 lasers).. after that I'm going to concentrate on frig/indy/ skill until I can get a Mammoth.
Very cool, excellent start to the game. Gives me a feeling that this community looks out for one another! ------------ Elucidate - Extraordinarily Lazy Miner |

It's great to hear you found a corporation who is helping you out =). Many in my corp group mine with me in their Battleships, while I'm in my Merlin (Caldari). Many might wonder why I chose Merlin over the Batham, its simple- I want to protect myself when rats come in .6 security space while I'm mining omber alone. My friends aren't always on at the times I am, not to mention they have Battleships with 8 Miner 2 lasers against my 2 Miner 2 and I just don't feel it's fair that they split the ore equally with me, though I don't complain =).
In my game time with corp members offline, I find NPC rats can take alot of your mining time in .7 or lower security, so having a mining/fighting friagte to start is very handy. Plus I scoop up the loot they drop and use it or reprocess for some rare mins =). I also find hunting and clearing belts of NPC rats to be a break from just sitting there mining myself. Not to mention doing agent missions can rake in some ISK, so get a lil shuttle for courier missions. My suggestions is to diversify while alone, and group mine with your corp.
