Overview doesn't turn out empty when we are jammed, so there must be some sort of separate positioning and identifying system at work, and drones have their own targeting system. Why aren't we able to make drones engage combat by right-click menu on overview or in selected item window? As it is at the moment, drones are incredibly stupid. Even F.O.F. missiles are more intelligent. If you return drones to drone bay to free them from aggro or lock, they will just orbit your ship when you release them again. Even if they are set to aggressive and your ship are tearing apart in pain. If you are jammed you cannot make them adress anything. It doesnt have to be very advanced, just a send drones option like the targeting etc. Would be very nice both for combat and logistic drones, and very little work to implement I'd believe.
Another thing that would be very nice is an indicator in the drone window if they get a lock on them. A coloured dot next to their name or something, just to make the owner aware.
Yet an other idea is to have a priority list, counting both upwards and downwards. This would ease the micromanagement if multitasking.

What do you mean? The ship does not go immune towards ECM in any way. Drones do have an aggressive mode already, it just doesn't work properly. If you are afraid of drones biting you, fit an ECM burst. Drones are not very different from the F.O.F. any missile platform may use. I was never talking about giving any particular ship a boost. Drones are commonly used by most players in a variety of ships. How you make out that the Dominix will be a megatank, I just can't understand. Drones can still not target the owners ship. |

You suggested a way for drones to target things while the carrier ship is jammed... This is a dumb idea.
Drones work fine imo, pop them out before you get aggro and let them do the rest it's simple, works for me. Leave it as it is tbh.
The rest of your reply doesn't actually make sense so I won't comment.

Drones already target things while the carrier ship is jammed. Each drone have their own targeting system. Drones may even be jammed.
Drones can be troublesome. Sometimes you need to bring them in, due to the fact that some ships have aggrodrop and triggered spawns may target drones. Drones may very well kill a trigger while carrier ship is jammed. When you release them again they will stay inactive.
In the rest of the post I was asking what you were talking about. This will not make the Dominix any better at tanking, nor will it be immune to ECM. Neither is Dominix the only ship using drones. Also I'm comparing the drones to F.O.F. missiles, so that you as a Caldari may understand that this is not a game breaking change. The missile platforms are not supertanking entities immune to ECM just becouse of the F.O.F., like you say the Dominix will be. F.O.F. are able to dish out more dps than drones, up to a range drones may only dream of. Drones may still be destroyed, by smartbombs or otherwise, in addition to jammed (for instance by ECM Burst).
What makes no sense to you? |
