I've heard it's best to clear the belts, or to leave large rats to spawn the small ones. Is there a science to ratting? I'm specificly refering to 0.0 and trying to raise my security status. Second to that would be ratting for isk. Please set the record straight. |

if it's just about sec status, you just kill 1 bs and get to the next system for the next one asap
for isk... clearing belts only if there's a decent chance of an officer or proper hauler spawns (npc null-sec or -0.9'ish) otherwise i recommend farming the top3-5 triple spawns. commander spawns (dread guri, domi, etc) don't really drop that well. ammo&tag is the usual disappointment and doesnt justify digging through BCs and cruisers all day |

If you're trying to get your sec status up as fast as possible, then kill the BS spawns, leave the little ships (ships smaller than the BS's). The BS's will respawn quicker this way. If you're trying for officer spawns then you need to clear out the belts completely.
*on second thought* I do not know if there's a larger or smaller sec + for killing frigates vs. BS's, so it may just be faster to kill everything in each belt if you get the same +sec for any NPC. What was a 2 BS spawn may now be a 3 cruiser and 2 frigate spawn. |

Actually if you want to raise sec status kill the biggest BS in the system then jump to another system - repeat.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

There is a system called chaining. Basically you kill all the large ships leaving 1 frigate or smallest class ship. In about 15 minutes the larger ships will respawn. This way you can get about 3 or 4 belts that you can rotate getting battleships.
For example a spawn of 2 Battleships and 3 cruisers. Kill all the battleships and 2 cruisers and leave 1 cruiser. then in about 15 minutes you will get 2 new battleships in the back in the belt.

This.
And for belts which don't have battleships, clean them completely. If those end up spawning battleships, treat them as above. In not so long you'll have a system with belts full of yummy battleships to mangle.

Once more so that everybody understands ...
If you want to raise your Security Status:
Kill a BS Rat and then SWITCH SYSTEMS !
Because the security status gets updated from the system change. If you stay in that system and kill more and more rats only the highest bounty rat you killed will effect your security status - once every 15-30 minutes. |

suppose a system has a triple bs spawn (A), and so does the next (B), kill 1 bs, switch to next system, kill BS.
at this point, if you go back to to the first system, can you kill a bs, and get the sec gain?
so basically
A > B > A > B
or do you have to A > B > C > D for 20 minutes, before you can get sec from A again?

As stated by others....
If farming officers, clear the belts completely.
If farming Battleship kills, --- In belts with high value battleships, kill ONLY the battleships. --- In belts with cheap ships (including few/or cheap battleships) kill everything.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

Generally cheap = anything worth less than a million isk |

1 gain per system so you have to do a>b>c>d |

The science to ratting is pretty simple, lock target --> open fire ^.^ (thats my powerpuff smile) |

If you find a system that spawns the 'tripple BS spawn' it usually spawns a few frigates as well, so kill the BS's and leave the frigate behind. Eventually the other 3 juicy battleship's will respawn, so you continue up and down the belts farming those spawns.
But if the spawn you encounter isnt remarkable, kill everything! - because you want it to make a fresh spawn that might contain better rats, or even a faction ship.
It can take an hour or two, and depends on the system (and its true sec status) but some systems can be conditioned to give maximum spawns and a great Isk/hour rate. and of course fast status repair ;)

And sometimes, if you take long enough killing the rats, you'll get continuous respawns while in the belt. Like, take 3-4 minutes killing first battleship, next one spawns, kill that, next one spawns, etc. Then you can just sit in a belt all day long - or until the cycle is broken atleast

Raising Sec is about big bounties up front, then moving systems.
ISK is about looking for meta 4 loot and anything with megacyte and zydrine. Like Nos. Most 0.0 sec BSs will salvage well but you add alot of time to the sitting duck factor that comes with 0.0 sec. |

Yes, dont kill the big ones, just farm the small ones. That's what to do. |
