Any setups?
The ones on battleclinic dont seem too shabby but i hate getting stuff straight from there without opinions =p
How does it compare to the other HICs?

Might wanna move some stuff around in that setup to make room for a 1600mm plate to make the most use out of those rigs. |

Nobody ever said you can only use one warp disruptor on these things, and given that they are putting out about as much damage as an assault frigate, fitting weapons really is a waste of your time.

I was running the other night this one and i like it, thinking in what a hic is mean to be, hold on the baddies while your fleet is ganging them:
lows: 1x therm hardener II, 1x EM hardener II, 1x DC II, 1x EANM II, 2 MARS II, gives you a worthy 64k of HP to endure your pain :D
Meds: 1x Med electro mech cap booster charges 400, 2 x Cap rechs II, the cap is stable at 54% so u can perma run the repps for some time before u go down.
higs: 4x focused medium pulse laser II with conflag. 1x warp disruption field. u can do some damage.
i was working without rigs , but if ure able to fit some, i¦d put an auxiliary nano and nanobot acelerator, whit my skills EFT says it can wisthand 686 of reinforced defence. with max skills 722.
oh! one thing no MWD cuz yore not meaning to run, as soon you active your field , ure primary.
cheers

Edited by: Cedric Diggory on 22/01/2009 17:48:12 Seriously folks, a Heavy Interdictor has one job and one job alone to do in lowsec: Lock and scramble targets. Fit with this in mind and you can't go far wrong. This means:
Buffer + Rep (you will get shot!) Sensor Booster (locking time scripts) Microwarpdrive (you need to KEEP your target jammed, so you'll probably have to chase!) As many Disruption Fields as humanly possible (targets tend not to come one by one!)
With these four "rules", you're laughing. Just like I'm laughing at all these people fitting one WDF and no SB on their "super tacklers".

2x rigs nano pump.

How is "fitting a 1600mm plate" not a low sec/small gang fit? Gate guns = you want the plates.

Once again i'll underline the word's I used That was mine. Not everyones setups will be the same and sometimes I dont fit weapons at all. Ill fit more warp generators. Just depends on the situation..
My setup with my skills has over 111K EHP which does ok for what I do, Some Battleships struggle to get just above that..

The fitting philosophy for any lowsec HIC is fairly straightforward. You're there to do one job, and that's to tackle. So you need mods that help you do that. That means multiple WDFGs, nos/cap booster for neut defence, ECCM and plenty of buffer. |

I fly an Onyx and I don't have the midslots to tank and fit ECCM and a sensor booster and a propulsion mod. Even the armor tanking HICs would be better off with the sensor boosters instead of ECCM.

My philosophy with HICs is. Get the initial point for your gang. Have multiple sensor boosters and get the point on target as fast as possible.
Your gang mates should fit MWD disabling scrams and webs. They MWD into the target - scram and web it to completely immobilize it after the HIC gets the initial point.
As for ECCM - unfortunately the HIC has too low a sensor strength to justify losing tanking/sensor boosting/propulsion mods to fit one. I rely on snipers/my own ECM to keep my HIC free from jams.
I know people think its a great idea to ignore the damage from HIC's - but at least for the Onyx - using heavy missiles makes it a great anti-support platform.
Those of you suggesting multiple WDFG on HICs - I hope that not meant as a substitute for carrying points on your gang's close range ships. 1 Jam on the HIC and your targets will get away.
Also - don't fit webs on HICs. Again your job is to get the infini point on target as fast as possible - followed up by your gang mates with scrams and webs to immobilize.
HIC - keesp them from warping away. Gang mates - immobilize target with scram + web.
Fit your mid slots with tank (for shield tankers) - 2x sensor boosters - and a propulsion mod (I use an afterburner, I find the MWD kills the cap too much).
Ive also been known to fit damage mods and use my 300 dps Onyx to shoot down Falcons. My corp mate flies with HAMS and damage mods and pumps out 400 dps. Depends on your scenario. HIC's are incredibly versatile ships.

Anyone who intends to fight within 24km and doesn't fit a point at least shouldn't be taking part in PvP, so no this is not the reasoning for fitting more WDFG modules. Given the HICs unique role and generally low damage output, it makes far more sense in a gang situation to be able to lock down multiple targets simultaneously (or if in 0.0, drop a bubble AND put an infinipoint on one or more people). Your gang will 99/100 times be following the FC's locking orders, and once you've got that point on primary you can focus on locking down secondary and tertiary targets whilst your gang keeps them pinned and does the killing.
Your job is simple: Tank and tackle. Fit for nothing other than this and you can't go wrong. One client: Three Screens! |
