when i idle in station for more than about 5 minutes my pc shuts down. no BSOD, no error, nothing. it just shuts down. windows doesn't even read it as a bad shut down. i've read about the problems with sound driver issues and updated those to no avail (though eve won't let me turn off hardware acceleration). i have the newest drivers for everthing i have. this all started with the latest major patch. i can fly around doing missions all day long or even just sit at a safe spot and everything is fine. oh btw, reinstalls don't work either. i've been playing this game for over two years and this is the first time i've run into this issue and i'm really stumped. overheating isn't an issue either. any help would be greatly appeciated. thanks.

Your system is overheating. EvE is notorious for spinning your CPU at 100%, on systems with poor design and/or cooling this will cause an overheat after a while.
Try going to your video options (in game) and setting "Preset Interval" to one, and see if that helps you. If you still have issues, open up your case, clean out your CPU heat sink (with air duster). If you still have issues (which you shouldn't), remove the heat sink, apply some thermal paste to your CPU (most pre-built computers skimp on this and it greatly reduces the efficiency of the heat sink), check your fans, etc. |

Edited by: Skycap on 21/01/2009 07:48:27 I get the same exact problem. Although not as early as 5 minutes though. I'd say maybe into 2+ hours. Anyways, the whole thing is just random. I'd be docking/mining/jumping and the PC just shuts down. But it only happens maybe 3 times a week total. I've done a full system recovery and updated every single driver I can think of and re-flashed the BIOS!

Your not alone. I get exactly the same thing. but it usually happens while im changing my screen in someway. Undocking going through jump gate etc. Ive noticed it seems to be a problem with EVE premium and Radeon cards. Im using Radeon HD2600XT but looking into the problem it seems to affect a lot of radeon cards. I current solution is to run on the cut down 2.0 shader version of EVE.
A bummer I know but so is a locking PC.
