Just like before QR, just pack a neut in the 6th highslot. And dual nanofiber in the lows. |

I used Dual180's for the extra tracking and rig it with either EM/Thermal Shield res rigs or ambits.

Probably the least affected HAC post nano nerf TBH. I'd fit ambits instead of speed rigs, the extra range will help you out. Whereas before if you pimped your ship a bit you could get away with having a single web on you hitting overload and burning away, maybe coming back and giving the offender a 30km bump before burning into the sunset giving v signs and sipping a ****tail. Now, even with the reduced effectiveness webs are dangerous to a vaga, especially combined with a scram. Also, em shield rigs, lol. Maybe go for a kinetic rig and an ambit if you're in guristas space.

The 180's over the 220's seem a bit counter-intuitive for a ship that orbits at 20+km with falloff rigs. The tracking bonus only provides a benefit if you are fighting small ships at very high speeds (intys with transveral), otherwise track better at 5km and do ~5% less damage from 10km onward on cruiser sized targets.
And let's be honest, if an inty gets a scram on you, neither gun is tracking once he gets into a tight orbit. That's where you rely upon the neut to get out.
It's a balance, but in it's average role I think the advantage of the 220's outweighs the advantages of the 180's. |

You need good rigging skills to fit ambits and 220s. 180s chew through ammo quick but the fall off is exactly the same and the differences in optimal and DPS are negligable. |

I know your thinking that the base EM Res is high enough, but the amount of people that will use EM Missiles etc, plus the amount of Amarr around now using Scorch (One of the few weapon systems that'll hit out to your range for decent damage) it's more practical to use EM/Thermal rigs, or just use ambits.

If you fit the neut, you won't be getting on 220's anyway with a dual LSE / ambit set up even with perfect skills. I agree that the differences in optimal is negligable, however I disagree that the DPS is negligable, it's approximately 6-9% (5km - 20km).
9% additional damage at 20km ignoring the additional difference overheat will make. 10%+ damage is not 'negligable' at standard operating range, that's the difference between 1 Vaga ending the fight with no shields, and the other being popped, or the difference between having specialization 0 vs specialization 5, or ROF 3 vs ROF 5, or... As you can see, it's actually worth quite a lot ;)

why fit the neut if your going to be flying outside its range anyways. might as well drop it and go for the bigger gun.

Fly a Sac? Seriously. Or at least a Fleet stabber, it almost makes sense for the fleet stabber to Armor tank... almost. Though you get points for, "WTF?" reactions when people expect you to instapop once inside web range.
I fit it the same as I did pre-QR, just swapped for Ambits. |

1.) 425's, even with the 6th high empty, do not fit with ambit rigs. You will need to drop additional mods to fit 425's
2.) 220's with a heavy missile launcher in the 6th high does more DPS than 5x 425's; greater DPS and greater tracking guns.
3.) 425's really, really struggle to track. I love them on my cane when fighting larger targets that are locked down, but on a fast moving platform like a Vaga, not sure I want to go there even if they did fit.

All it can take is a friggin shortrange scram and an ounce of bad judgement/luck, and it's dead, I suppose.
Sooooooo.... is there any merit to dropping an LSE for an AB? I mean, it gives me the shivers in a bad way to even think about it.... but.... does it worketh? Does it payeth off?
Or what about a nicely skilled TD instead of the second LSE?

Edited by: Lilith Velkor on 21/01/2009 23:12:11 Scrams arent that much of a danger tbh, a neut in highs is all you need to dispatch AFs quick.
Closest to being owned by AFs I ever got was being scrambled by 2, but they both died without the need to use my neut. A bit of maneuvering and you get a nice hit on them, only takes 3 of those to kill.
Edit: and use the proper damage type ofc, amarr AFs laugh at barrage but melt if you use rf phased plasma.

With the Vaga going about 3km/s slower (from 6km/s to 3km/s) it was heavily effected by the last patch. Now you do maybe 1km/s more then other Hacs. The old cookie cutter fit is useless (2 polys, 2 nanos, 1 od) because of the new double stacking penalty of polys/nanos. So what you got is extra lows/rigs and I have seen people do all types of things with them. I have yet to see an obvious clear cookie cutter setup.
Some would say this is a good thing. You definitely see a greater variety of Vaga ships, some even put an AB on it. The ship is weak though. Been tracking the stats on the small gang roams I have been doing and the zealots and Ishtars consistently out damage the Vagas by 20-30%. All we got now is about 1k/ms more then the other ships. Whoopee.
