I'm been playing EVE off and on for a little while and finally got into lvl 2 missions. Now, the ships that I face in missions now jam my target locks and now im up a creek without a paddle. Is there an item that reduces the chance of me getting jammed?
Thanks

Except that ECCM doesn't work against rats and it's plain chance based.

Don't do missions. Too boring. I used to do missions, then I found a much better way of passing the time by pouring paint into my nostrils and jabbing my eye with a pencil.

Not really, but when someone asks a silly question with a simple answer which you could have found out yourself with even the tiniest bit of research, then yes it does look like you are trolling. Especially given that the forum troll's weapon of choice for this year seems to be ECM. |

Also posting in the correct forum helps. |

Nothing you can do about it in missions, other than to run non-guristas ones of course.
Normally ECCM would be your friend against jamming, but rats cheat and have the exact same chance to jam every cycle, regardless of your sensor strength. |

Edited by: Maria Kalista on 22/01/2009 08:01:52 The only answer to this problem is use drones. Set them to 'aggressive', and get them out of their bay and on a target before you are locked out. The thing you need watching out for is that your drones don't get aggro.
Edit; or get help from friends --> corp mates.

As said, drones, FOF missiles. Or an alt/corp/fleet mate with remote eccm. |

What is jamming you. If they are sensor dampeners get in close and fit sensor boosters.
If they are ECM then find out what ship is ecm'ing you and when you get your target back which you will kill that one first.
Wait till they warp scramble and web you to. |

Level 2s for caldari: FOF it. Level 2s for gallente: drone it. Level 2s for amarr: lock, kill with fire - all the little buggers. Level 2s for minmatar: pfft, as if...'matar don't mission. |

No. You just need to bow down to the self appointed forum police.. or tell them where to go.
In either case I doubt you are being jammed. They are hitting you with a misc count down? it's a sensor dampener. Meaning they have shortened your targeting range. If there are a number of them, it can get crazy because they do stack. They are always frigates and you will learn to identify them as you do more missions. |

The OP should be able to see what's hitting him in his overview. If he says he's being ECM jammed (which can be the case in a Guristas mission), my bets are on a sensor backup array. Will not always negate the effect of being jammed, as jamming is chance based, but they'll have less chance at jamming you.

As far as I know ECCM does not affect a rat's chance of jamming you.
However, if your using Caldari for missioning, then pack FOF missiles. |

Level 2 missions are the worst for this too. Once you get to level 3s you will get jammed a lot less
Explain that one....

Captain Picard: Commander Data shoot those enemy vessels! Data: But sir! There are ships jamming us preventing us to shoot! Picard: Then shoot those damn jamming ships first! Data: but... but... (starts looking being real busy behind the console)

You shouldn't be permanently jammed, so take the time that you are jammed to check your overview for the offending jammers and take names.
In future runs of the same missions, try to take out the jammers first *assuming they have been aggro'd*, so that you have less chance of being jammed again.
Using FOF missiles is one thing you could do, but these are prone to their own issues in the form of going for the nearest target at the time of launch rather than sticking to one target, making them a bit iffy to use. You'd ideally need to pair them with carefully controlled drones in order to take out any frigs orbiting you, and then hope they can be used on whatever's further away.
Ooooor you could get a friend to come take out the jammers for you. ---
