Eurogamer have posted the following EVE related news story today.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/eve-player-runs-off-with-isk-80-billion
Apologies if it has been linked already!
ps. don't get too excited over the 'stupidly complicated MMO' bit as 'stupidly' can mean 'awesomely' in current English slang - in the same way that bad once meant good.
Of course maybe she does mean stupidly - I just can't tell ----- Alliance Creation/Corp Expansion Services

The caught onto that pretty fast I must say.
Just a shame that the article seems very very poorly informed.

As the OP pointed out, it's akin to saying something's "ridiculous complicated". Doesn't mean it's ridiculous, just that it's so much so it blows the mind.

I agree, the whole article revelaled just hope "simple" the author was. Yes EVE is complicated, and that is a good thing. If I wanted a simply point and click gam I would have gone to one of the mainstream MMO's like WoW or such nonsense.

But, Eve is simply a point and click game...
Your typing is atrocious, are you drunk perhaps?
Even if Eve isn't "simple" in MMO terms, it could do with a good dose more complexity. Scanning for instance, could definitely be something more then just spamming the scan button, and don't give me some crap about the "art" of placing probes. Yes there's something there, but it's certainly not enough.
Remember dealing with sonar and TMA in Subcommand / Dangerous Waters? (I doubt many Eve players will.) Now if scanning was more like that, (with a less efficiect auto-option for those who can't be bothered) now that would be something.

This is pretty OT, of course, but the article linked in the OP was such a short piece, hardly worth discussing. Though it's probably good marketing for Eve. |

You don't. You aren't cool enough.
There's a large difference between creating money out of thin air to keep a company which failed epicly and then EBANK offering to help out with keeping DBANK's liquidity relatively safe.

Some of the comments are much more LULZ-worthy...
"My name is Ellie and I like kittens and flowers." (the article writer)
"stupidly simple fantasy mmo WoW"
"Wait, he's playing a sci-fi mmo where he works as an investment manager? What's his job in real-life? A starfighter pilot?"
"was actually a shock when i moved bakc to wow after eve andfound that theiving would be referred to GMs :(" [ sic ]

You got me there. Had a look and seems it abandonware these days: http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com/abandonware/pc/simulations/games_p_r/red_storm_rising.html
I think I'll give it a pass though, getting DOSBox to work with old games can be a real hassle.
I'm not absolutely sure, it's been a while and I wasn't very old at the time, but I do believe 688 Attack Sub was my first sub game. Can't remember much from it, but I don't think it had much in the way of sonar simulation. At the time, I don't think they would've interested me that much even if it did.
Edit: Sorry for going so OT folks, just touched a nostalgic nerve there.

That one looks pretty similar but with more colors. :) I wouldn't suggest playing Red Storm Rising without the manual, as most of the interface is keyboard and not intuitive at all.

the most disapointing thing is to see that some gaming websites only write about eve online when theres a financial fraud story and even then the article isn't even worth reading due to the obvious lack of details or actual facts .

scanning itself if you looking for exploration can be trickey when doing the planets closer to the center of that solar system since scan probes cant overlap each other , so it does involve warping bookmarks and a few attempts at this aswell, making sure you have the maximum scan coverage.
i hope that CCP new scanning methods are something truly awesome as i plan on searching for these new "wormholes" and maybe get back into standard exploration aswell.
