Engineering is the only skill to increase powergrid. There are no skills to decrease powergrid usage. Only other option is to buy a bigger ship -----------

The idea is that all ships can't fit a full complement of the best weapons for their class.
For example the lowest frigates struggle to fit the bigger small weapons simply because they are small weak ships, and the weapon is the most power hungry in its class. The most powerful frigates should find it much easier to fit the larger weapons though.
Also remember that race ships are built around using certain types of weapon (or the weaponary is built for the ship). Like Caldari will more easily fit launchers and railguns because those weapons are CPU hungry not grid, but they will have trouble fitting lasers which are more grid hungry.
Power diagnostics systems, reactor control units and micro auxilary power cores can also help fit bigger weapons

If you still use frigates, look at the micro auxillery powercore. Near useless on cruisers and up as the %age bonuses are greater but it makes me able to fit a medium sized gun on my Punisher.

I think the answe here is... 1, buy small lasers not medium 2, train engineering --

Those are both dumb rules. If that is true then the market forum should have half of their threads locked, as I believe taht the thread, "[auction] rare loot", has been used a couple of times explain this one mods
