I am trying to get into FW, but may standing is 0.09.
Using the following web site 'www.eve-agents.com', I select the faction 'Minmator Republic' and find the agents that come in the list.
I have then done a couple of missons for some of the agents, yet my standing has not changed. I would have thought it would change a bit at least.
I am doing something wrong, or do I just have to do more missions.
I have a charisma of 6, do I need to increase this
Thanks
Andy

Edited by: Ivena Amethyst on 25/01/2009 12:03:33 your faction standing will inrease when you complete storyline missions you get one of theese for every 16 normal missions you complete for the same npc corp when you get a storyline mission you'll get an eve-mail from the agent
useful skills: social (5% bonus per level to NPC agent, corporation and faction standing increase.) and connections (4% Modifier to effective standing from friendly NPC Corporations and Factions per level.) |

If you're trying to get into Factional Warfare, Connections will not directly help as the standing requirement is 0.5 unmodified.
As Ivena said, you need storyline missions to improve your faction standing. Negotiation will raise the agent's effective quality, giving better standing changes on mission completion.

You could go through the 2-part rookie missions - I've heard doing them raises your standings each time and there's several agents that hand out the same mission, which means you can do it multiple times.

So storyline missions are the only way to improve Empire standing?
I was under the impression that regular missions affect it as well, but only a tiny bit. I have cancelled some of my storyline missions because they were boring.

Edited by: Bo''Tox on 27/01/2009 02:30:15 I have been doing kill missions lately and after "Almost" every misison your standing will go up. AT LEAST to that agent, if nothing else.
Faction standings do go up with missions but only VERY slowly (could be around 0.0001, so It will take alONG time!) Do agent missions to increase tyour standings with that agent and corp. Related corps will also have a standings increase (I was doing Kaalakiota missions with L2 agent, and now do misisons for a related corp, L2 (Cant rememebr the name off hand).
Get up to doing Level 4 misisons ASAP as these pay best, in isk, LP's and standings.
Remember though, that you need to have Social to L3 and Connections to l3 too to get any significant standings increases....
When you do 16 missions for a Particular level agent then you will get a Storyline of the same level. So when your doing 16 L4 missions then you'll get a L4 storyline mission and thus the opportunity to raise your standings accordingly..

Faction standings only go up with storyline missions. They do not go up at all with 'regular' missions (though you will lose opponent faction standing in some missions that require you to kill their ships).
Quote: Do agent missions to increase tyour standings with that agent and corp. Related corps will also have a standings increase
No they don't. Running missions for a corp will only increase your standings with that corporation (if you show your standings to any corp you can right click to "show transactions", showing exactly when it changed, by how much and why). There is also no game mechanic for "related" corps.
If you want to start running missions for a different corp, you will do this either by working up your standings from their initial level, or via your faction standing. Chances are what might have happened here is that you have Connections 3+, and by doing a storyline mission you gain an effective faction standing of 1.2 or more, and thus can run low-level missions for any Caldari corp.
Though the point still stands, you will only get corporate gains for interacting directly with that corp (usually just through running missions).
Quote: Remember though, that you need to have Social to L3 and Connections to l3 too to get any significant standings increases....
That's kind of misleading too. Social improves standing gain by 5% per level, so Social 3 will mean each standing increase is 15% higher - that's good, but I wouldn't exactly call it the difference between "significant" and "insignificant". And Connections has absolutely no effect whatsoever on standing increases; all that Connections does is give you a flat boost to your base standings with that corp (so at Connections 3 you effectively start with a 1.2 standing instead of 0.0), after that all standing increases happen at exactly the same rate regardless of what you have Connections trained to.
Quote: When you do 16 missions for a Particular level agent then you will get a Storyline of the same level.
It doesn't have to be the same agent, or even the same corporation either. Every time you complete your 16th mission of a particular level for a particular faction's agents, you will get a storyline mission of that level for that faction. Thus you don't need to worry about "breaking your chain" or anything like that.
For example you can run say 10 level 2 missions for Kaalakiota, 5 level 1 missions for Caldari Navy, a dozen level 1 missions for a Gallente corp, and then come back to run 6 level 2 missions for Caldari Navy - the sixth will make that up to 16 Caldari level 2 missions, and you will get a level 2 Caldari storyline mission (from the nearest Caldari storyline agent to where you handed in that 16th mission). You could also then go and run 4 more Gallente level 1 missions at any point in the future and get offered a level 1 Gallente storyline. |
