Greetings
Like many of you, I have been podkilled in Rancer. Pirates control this system and sit there smartbombing on the gate all day. I urge you brothers and sisters, we must rise up against this tyrany. We must re-take control of the Rancer system.
I have done some research, and most of the scumbags are in a corp called "The United" and an alliance called "Negative Ten". The filthy pirates are proud of themselves obviously.
I stand before you, just a person. With your help, tommorow we can be heroes!
We must reclaim Rancer from the pirates. For the glory and honour! |

I have had a new idea for a plan we will be meating in a two prong attack
for those who are in mimatar space meet up in miroitem at 2000 eve time and for those the other side of Rancer then go to crielere. The pirates usually hang around on the crielere/rancer gate so if we come in from two sides it will suprise them.

LOL... I am sure they will be suprised, because we all know none of the pirates in rancer read the forums, or if they do its just C&P, right?
On 2nd thought, this whole thread is likely to just be a ploy to get the pirates in rancer some kills other than rookie ships and t1 indies with nothing in them. |

Seriously though, what are you thinking? At best you might manage to move the camp out of rancer breifly for a few hours; and then what?
To move them out and keep them out, you'll need a fairly large contingent of antipies permanently based in or around Rancer. There used to be such groups based on Thelan but they are no longer there any more, because:
1) They got bored and went to 0.0, or
2) They got sick and tired of the pirates winning, or
3) They joined the pirates. |

Although generally a good suggestion, the Rancer<>Crielere gate in question is well beyond on-board scanner range from any other astronomical objects in the solar system. You could always make a bookmark within 12AU of the gate, but that's not something too many people are likely to do unless they plan on / already spend time in the local area. |

This is how it will go. A bunch of newbs in bs will try to kill the smartbombing bs filled with wcs on the gate and will die horribly when the pirates hotdrop a cap fleet and pwn them then smack in local.
Or.
If a sufficiently threatening non newb force comes into the system the pirates will all dock up and smack in local.

Being an Ex-United pirate, I can assure you that Rancer can be yours. Just make sure you bring plenty of named, t2, and faction gear. If you want to kill the best, you better be fitted for the occasion.
(Also, make sure you have iskies in your wallet, you know...just in case)

The humor of the situation is that a majority of these Rancer gatecamp style pirate spoils come from 0.0 alliances moving the spoils of their toils back to empire, and despite the average alliance members low PvP skill vs. your average losec pirate's high PvP skill the pirates still could easily be overcome by the sheer numbers.
If there were no losec pirates 0.0 alliances might be 2x as profitable.
PS. just calling things as I see em. I myself am back in 0.0 after a year or so of roaming piracy. Thing is though, 90% of 0.0 is collecting the resources of your territory and 10% is protecting your territory. 90% of pirate life is fighting and 10% is controlling hauling and probe alts. Most pirates simply get much more PvP practice.

Since Rancer has a huge income potential, the only corp/alliance that could actually "clean it up" would just end up being the new smartbombing overlords.
Its hard to say no to sexy KB numbers and tons of ISK.

Many have tried to attack them. They keep alts in nearby system and they will warp out if any sizable group comes in. No, these pirates are paranoid. The smartbomb tactic in itself is clever because you take damage while still exiting warp, when your ship pops your pod will pop too. You cant jump out in your pod because of session change, and you cant warp out because the smartbomb will pop you before you get a chance to.
Rancer will remain as it is now unless CCP changes smartbomb mechanics. I doubt they will. |
