I haven't played EvE in a while, and of course the first thing that frustrates me as it had so many times before, is windowed mode and setting resolutions. At first I was unable to have windowed mode at anything other then my monitor's max resolution. This was resolved after 30 minutes of googling and searching EvE forums both manually and with the search. Nothing really helped. I then proceeded to change my desktop to my desired windowed mode resolution and started up EvE. Unfortunately, it still started up at full screen with max resolution... Wait a minute, upon switching to windowed again, there we are! All the other resolution options! Yay!
My point? Why the hell must I go through so much trouble to get my damn windowed mode working? It's not really windowed mode when it covers your entire screen and then some.
Am I missing out on some super easy fix? |

yes it is not eve's problem it is windows,
eve asks windows what resolution it supoprts and if you monitor only returns the max resolution that it can handle then eve will not offer any others to you

Found a solution to my case of this problem, my monitors refresh rate was set to 59 Herts, changing this back to 60 allowed me to change the windowed mode resolution to several options. hope this helps. This really needs to be added to the info list, I spent an hour searching these boards, and the internet at large, before just looking at whatever was related to my screen resolution.

Another question regarding windowed mode:
Is there any way to switch to widescreen modes except for the native desktop resolution?
My desktop runs on 1680x1050, but I can only select 1280x1024 or 1152x768, not any widescreen modes like e.g. 1140x900 or 1280x960.

yeah i had same problem as you did.eve wouldnt let me set resolution in window mode.now i have to change my desktop resolution first then log in to eve and change it there before resetting desktop bck..lol
and yes its a pain in the arse:p
