As someone who regularly checks this forum to see if there's anything I can help with can I place a request as a courtesy to all the vets who give up their time in this way:
If you ask a question and someone answers it can you place a thank you or at least let us know how the solution provided went.
If you click on your avatar (or '!') here it will take you to a character page with a large version of your avatar and a link to last posts you have made. if you bookmark this page you can use this to keep an eye on your recent threads. Just check back in case someone has added something else within a few days of your post, often someone will add something the first responder has missed.
If you are one of the vets who gives up your time in this way please post a short reply below to keep this thread bumped for a while.

Edited by: Mithos Victus on 27/01/2009 14:24:11 I do not post here too often, but I am always available for a little Q&A.
This forum section is one of the more hospitable on the website which is why it surprises me it does not get used more often.

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 27/01/2009 18:22:50 It is being used but the problem is ofcourse that actually going to the website of the game you play, then click on the forum link and actually going to the newbie section takes a tad of thought and effort. And you know how well that goes with most people... The vast majority of EVE players don't visit the forums.
People are happy to not actually put in some effort and perhaps learn something, which kinda helps them staying completely clueless on the game. That ofcourse means that they're gearing up for a "I just lost a <hideously expensive, but badly fit ship> to a <perfectly well known game mechanic> WTF is this greifing, I quit!!!!" posts on GD and the oh so obvious "how can I ever compete with older players".
Ingame I am/can be a complete arse in the sense that I WILL use every trick to make you lose your ship, however if someone is willing to put in effort to learn I'll help them out, hence me posting a lot here on the newbie forums.

I like to call what you do "Karma reclamation". I've read your threads in all sections, and you always go from being the most evil bastard to the most helpful. Always makes me smile.

It's not reclamation though, not at all. I simply react/reply to people in a manner they 'deserve'. If they're being ignorant tools my reactions will be accordingly. If they're somehow trying to learn or at least keep their composure I'm more than happy to help, acknowledging their effort.
Similar with the whole smacking thing, I don't smack but I sure as hell will respond in kind if someone starts stupid stuff, not so much for getting more lulz as to make them understand what an idiot they are

Bumping. To reiterate: can anyone who is a vet (roughly > 6months) and posts here regularly post in this thread and keep it alive. |

I'm only 2 months, but your suggestion is so valid I'll bump it anyway.
