Hi all,
I fly Amarr combat ships, and have enough standing with one of my corporations to start running level 3 missions. I worry, however, about being able to handle those missions with my current skills and equipment. I can fly a prophecy. With current skills and gear I have armor resists between 50% and 68%. I run a single MARII, and the ship is cap stable with guns, afterburner, and reper running. I do not yet have tech 2 on the turrents. What does anyone think? Am I ready to advance or will I get my pod handed to me by level 3 rats?

Edited by: Mawusi on 28/01/2009 00:08:47 Give em a go...they aint that hard. The biggest jump in difficulty is lvl3 to lvl4. If you can handle lvl 2 with ease then lvl 3 shouldnt be a problem. I think I was running lvl 3 within first few weeks and I pretty much skipped lvl 2's.
Mission running is easy if you watch the spawn triggers. Use the mission reports on www.eve-survival.org to see what you'll be up against and what the triggers are and you'll be fine :)

I would suggest using a Harbinger not a Prophecy. 5 med drones and 7 guns with a 5% damage bonus, i think is better that having a bit more resistance.

Should be fine, your resistances are low, especially on that ship, but workable. Level 3's are not a big jump up from level 2's.
If you have medium beam lasers, a medium armor repairer, 3 active hardeners (rat specific), a heatsink and can make it more or less cap stable, you are fine for level 3's. |

I contest that. Level 3's will have you taking a lot more damage than level twos. I reccommend getting at LEAST a tank that can sustain ~180 DPS before starting level threes. |

Hi Orikon
I too recently followed the same path as you. I flew the Prophecy for a while, always thinking about the Harbinger but loved the look of the Prophecy and it's a decent ship despite the hatred; it's just not as good as the Harbinger.
If you can run a level 2 in your sleep then the jump to level 3 is hardly noticable (except for the decent increase in rewards) If your Prophecy is well fitted you shouldnt even need to worry about Spawn aggro, your skills also sound fine.
Mission specific tank is the key to keeping safe, DCII, decent armour repairer (named) and then fit 3-4 (sorry not sure how many lows the Proph has) rat specific actives (2 of each type) which should give you closer to 80% resists.
I'm still running level 3's but now in a harb, training tech 2 guns but havent got them yet and feel i dont really need them except it will speed things up once they are fitted. (for the time being use Amarr Faction Crytals in your guns for the extra dps)
I would suggest aiming for the Harbinger sooner or later though as its a fantastic mission ship. Also get yourself a Salvage ship (destroyer with tractor beams and salavers) and go in after youve killed everything. Made 5 million from a level 3 last night and it only took 20 minutes.

also try to specific tank for the rats you will be facing. should get your tank in the 70-80% range for the damage the rats do.
