Edited by: Destrim on 28/01/2009 15:53:41 Edited by: Destrim on 28/01/2009 13:59:40 I'm trying to run EVE (premium) on Fedora 10 using wine, and keep on running into a serious issue with empty text boxes.
Why is this serious? Well, specifically because the initial box for the EULA is empty... you know, the one that pops-up on initial start, that you have to scroll to the bottom and click on "accept" in order to play the game.
Obviously, this means I can't play the game using the wine client, since I can't click on "accept," much less scroll to the bottom: there's no text, buttons, or scrollbar in the window for accepting the EULA.
Additionally, the .RPM client stopped working once I upgraded my Nvidia drivers. That is, it WAS working until those drivers were updated.
If anyone has any information on either of the two issues, I'd be quite appreciative of any help you may have to offer. Thank you!

Edited by: Destrim on 28/01/2009 14:27:53 Ok, the standard .rpm client works now, though the mouse cursor is ****ed up (a box of scattered red pixels), but I still can't run premium under wine: same issue with the scrollbar and text window malfunction.

In reply to your first post:
Taken from the eve-online wiki: You will also need to install arial.ttf. To do this, install the package "msttcorefonts". After the package is installed, copy /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/* to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts.

That did the trick!
Although, I would have to raise a complaint: installing msttcorefonts on fedora 10 is a *****. Almost everyone seems to setup the package installation process to rely exclusively on "chkfontpath" package. I had to extract the package manually to the font directory, and then copy it over to the .wine directory.

Instructions for Ubuntu to get the EULA screen to work (this was done on 8.04 LTS)
In a terminal window do the following:
sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts cd ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts ln -s /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/* .
