So I was just having a look at the star map and noticed refinery in station services. I figured a station with a refinery might give a better base yield for ore but when I docked (Minmatar Mining Refinery) there was no refinery window, just the normal reprocessing at 50%. Any ideas about this? Are there any stations that give better than 50% base?

The best refinery stations are 50% base.
Minmatar Outposts are 35% base (upgradeable to 40/45/50%)
Other outposts all have pitiful refines (10% base ! upgradeable at most to 30%)
Other NPC stations only have 30% base (the ones that don't have 50% base)
The minimum refine you need to obtain 100% refine, is 40%. Though with max skills + refinery implant you are very close with a 35% base outpost.

Well, I really just wondered why some stations are listed as having a "refinery" while others just have a reprocessing plant. If there's no difference between the two then why have refineries at all? Maybe have a look at the star map to see what I mean. Only 3-4 corps in Minmatar have actual refineries in the station, while almost every other corp has a reprocessing plant.

You probably would need your refining skill to level V though.
If the station has 45% refine... what level skill would your refining need to be to gain 100% back? |

With 40% base, you need either max skills (5/5/5) or 5/5/4 is fine with the refining implant).
Just guessing but 5/5/4 is probably fine for 45%. Maybe lower, but many people will have 5/5/4 anyway due to mining crystals. It's not really worth the extra for the 45% upgrade from 40% though. The cost of the outpost upgrade is a heap more, and the end effect is less. |
