Edited by: Ted Gandaar on 29/01/2009 19:22:48 It's been a good 2 years since I've touched this game... and the other day, I figured I'd download the trial to see if I'd still want to play. Lo and behold, I felt the hooks sink in almost immediately, and I reactivated my old account. Now I have a question:
My old char was getting to be pretty diverse. It was the first char I ever created... back before I understood the attributes, and their implications. They are as follows: I 17, P 12, C 7, W 9, M 9.
Now, I originally made this guy as a combat character. And he's been trained as such. About 4 million skill points worth. By the end of my career, I realized that science skills would train fast, and got science up to level 5, and started looking towards mining stuff. Then my eve existence faded away. Now I'm back, and would like to go the combat route. Would I be better off making a new character better suited to combat? And using this guy as support? Or should I stick with this one? How are the attribs in comparison to a combat geared char, and how badly may it effect my training times?
Thanks!

keep you character and just train up your learning skills and add implants , if your going PVP change into a non implanted clone so you dont loose them
the SP you have will be useful |

he's talking about his attributes.
I 17, P 12, C 7, W 9, M 9.
That's really good actually. It's not the "perfect" set up but cha is your lowest skill and your pre is high : ) your int will help with many shield skills and such.
are these your base attributes or after skills?

You need Science 5 for combat too.
Keep what you have. I don't know what your base Percep is, that's what matters. Base + 9 for skills (10 but the adv 5 isn't worth it) Add 3 or 4 for implant.
If you just wasnt to goof around with HACs and other T2 cruisers, it doesn't matter anyway. You won't take that much longer. |

Are these atts before or after skills?
If it's base, or you only have a few of the learning skills trained, then you picked the wrong attribute to put your points into lol.
However, as a combat pilot, you want to focus on Perception and Willpower, Get these skills up asap to get the most out of your training time.
Learn to Learn as I like to say... Keep your char, 4 mil points is about what...2 months of time?

Get instant recall to 4, then look up the "advanced" learning skills. You're off to a good start.

Sweet! I had a feeling that my guy was screwed, but sounds like my situation isn't so bad. Thanks for the advice, guys. See ya in space!
Now I have to get some of my stuff out of 0.0 space without dying... my corp is now defunct, so I have no clue what's in that area now, hehe.

Train up a few trading skills (allows you to sell without docking) and definately the Contracting skills and go out there in a fast frig. Once you get in the region just maybe contract it all (item exchange) for below region average prices.
Do NOT try to bring it all back from a hostile 0.0 with no intel, you will die and lose it all. |
