Hey all I was interested in faction wars, however im not sure how to get started. I tried googling it but I just game up with faction war stats and various blogs. I also tried the eve wiki yet there does not seem to be an article on faction war yet. Could anyone perhaps link me an article on how to get started? I hear that faction wars took place in instanced space. If this is true could someone perhaps tell me where I enter the instance? I was interested in signing up for caladri and sending in a few frigates to have some fun.
Thanks for your time and help. |

Firstly, find the person who told you it was instanced, and rip their balls off. There are no instances in EVE, nor will there ever be. FW takes place in the lowsec regions between Gallente-Caldari and Amarr-Minmatar space. You can use the starmap to show which factions have occupied which systems. All systems that light up are FW systems.
To get started, you just get .5 BASE faction standing with the faction you want to join, enter a station owned by that faction and go to the militia office. It appears on the right as one of the station services. |

very good point by the last player that told you to use the starmap.
But he is missing one thing. Have you gone to a Caldari starbase or any starbase that has Caldari mission agents. Well when you find that location and if you are already there, and very important if you have been doing just Caldari missions so far, click on the Military Office service button and click JOIN ME to the militia. Once you click yes again, you will get a message of whether you can join the Faction or not. Well it has to do with my your Faction Standing. You have several standings, but the most important here is the Faction Standing which tells whether you can join the FW or not. I don't know about Caldari, but it might be the same for all Factions. When you click JOIN ME to the militia and if you don't get a message that you cannot join then that means you are good. But if you get a message that says, blah blah "You cannot join the faction because you have low standing..." blah blah the message will tell you that you might need to bring your faction standing back up to +0.5 or above with the faction that you want to join FW (which in your case is Caldari). So the reason I asked whether you were completing Caldari Faction missions, is because if you Faction Standing is low below +0.5 then you need to forget about every and any other agent and just pick one location that has Caldari mission agents and you should focus on the mission level you can manage then follow the next mission level and you're faction STanding will improve gradually. (Not very fast, but gradually, but I do know that it does improve faster when you do mission level 2 or higher). So I hope you get this ok. And to find out whether the mission agents are from the Caldari faction just open the description page of the agent and then click on the icon of the Corp of the agent and then if the next description page of the agent corp says, Corp is member of Caldari (whatever it maybe), then you are in the right place.
Good luck! |

All that talk about getting standings ignores the most simple option: join a player corporation which is in the militia; you don't need any standing for that. You can find corps which are recruiting in the Recruitment section of the forum. |
