I plan in next few months is to start flying a orca, and I am curious to what support skills or any type of skills that would be good to have to really support this ship.
I know flying a ship is one thing, but flying one well is what I am shooting for, thanks. |

The main use of the Orca is for gangrelated mining, i assume that is what you are planning to use it for ?
Main skills then would be leadership skills, as you will be the fleet booster, the various cap skills, the skills needed for slapping on T2 modules, getting your Mining Director and Industrial Command Ship skills up as high as possible for higher yield, if you are planning on heavy mining, a Mining Foreman mindlink (implant) is a good thing to have, etc.

If you haven't done so already, max out Navigation and Evasive Maneuvering. You will want the ship to get into warp ASAP.
That's the only suggestion I can think of. |

Surely training Navigation would be a bad thing as it raises the 80% maximum speed get-into-warp threshold without increasing the ship's acceleration?

AFAIK, acceleration is proportional to your max speed. So even if your max speed is higher, it still takes the same amount of time to accelerate to 75%.
Anyway, as someone said, you'll probably want to get Mining Director to 5 ASAP. Each level of Mining Director gives you the biggest boost to your mining links. You'll also want to train Cybernetics to 5. This allows you to use the Mining Foreman Mindlink implant.
You'll probably also want to take Warfare Link Specialist and Industrial Command Ships as high as you can, as they also provide incremental boosts to your links.
Being able to use a T2 DCU is nice too (Hull Upgrades 4, I think?) since the Orca has a crazy amount of structure. Decent shield skills are nice to have as well. The need for tanking/defense skills all depends on how paranoid you are though.

Great, thanks for the advice so far, looking into the skills now. Anything else? |
