You can make limited-run copies from BPOs. They are commonly referred to BPCs. You need a research lab slot to do this.

I think the reference is to the reverse engineering option that isn't currently in game. It will be interesting to see how that works, if it's done right it could be interesting, if it's done wrong it will screw the blueprint market completely up.

The skills related to duplicating and reverse eng is they can fail. If they do it so failer results in destruction of the item then it'll be more of a risk. If you have the cash to buy 10 covert ops cloaks and if you reverse eng all 10 resulting in 1 BPO, I'd say it's worth it.

I highly doubt you will get a bpo from reverse engineering, more like a limited run copy instead.

I agree. CCP has said they want to control the number of bpo's, so RE is never going to produce bpo's. Most likely BPC's. But taking how strange CCP logic sometimes is they might come up with a 3rd option...

If Reverse Engineering ever does get implented, before the release of the new mining drones on the market, might be fun to get some Harvestors reverse engineered too :)

RE should produce 1run BPC. And it should take lots of time to make so it wouldn't be more viable to use than bpo and bpcs that are derived from those bpos for the same items. In generals RE should only be used for items for which bpos do not exist. The problem I see with RE is that loot prices will crash. Why buy modulated tachyons off market when you can just duplicate them, get one and make hundreds... next thing, nobody will buy the ordinary ones.

When Eve first went live I remember them saying that you can only RE items that are titled "Prototype". I wouldn't hold my breath, though. They've been promising RE since release.

Why would I ever risk one of my named items for a 1 run BPC? IMO It should be a 1-10 run BPC and with only a 10% chance of success. That way while some lucky people can make ten times as much money from a named item, most will be losing their named items, while some will get a bpc just to cover their loss.

If RE works here like it did in E&B, there's gonna be lots of folks mad about feeding the "shredder" as we fondly called the analyzer terminal.
If it made it in-game, would be cool indeed, even if it was only BPc's. As long as they were more than 1-2 run anyway. ________________________________________________ From deep in space where nobody hears my screams... Sometimes in fear, sometimes in anger, mostly just my singing style. |
