My main gaming machine has died over the last couple of days, so I have setup one of my other machines as a temporary replacement.
Problem: When starting either the classic, or premium client (tried both), I get the full screen splash, and nothing else. The splash simply stays on the screen with nothing else available. Pressing ESC does nothing.
Setup: Tyan Thunder K8W, 2 x Opteron CPUs, 4gb ram, Geforce 6800 Ultra.
Steps Taken: This is a completely fresh install of Windows XP (with updates installed), with nothing but the relevant drivers and EVE installed.
I've tried both clients, and both have exactly the same issue.
Also tried starting EVE with safemode switch, same problem.
Tried lowering my standard resolution from 1900 x 1200. Resolution change makes no difference.
Solution: Still looking for one! Any assistance appreciated! |

Can you search your machine for arialuni.ttf .Missing arialuni.ttf font reported causing splash screen ,since you have fresh install you may not have it. install MS office (it is MS office only font according to reports ) or search and download from net
Or sound cause this problem .did you installed sound drivers? a) disable sound first for test add audio=0 to the pref.ini file in the cache folder

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I checked my computer for the Arial unicode font, and it wasn't there. I downloaded and installed the font, but it made no difference.
I then tried adding the text you mentioned to disable the Audio, but It also had no effect.
Tomorrow I will try switching out some of the hardware and seeing if it makes a difference, I don't know what else it could be on a fresh install. I'm still very interested in any suggestions anyone has. Thanks again! |

Update:
Switched out the 6800 Ultra for a 7800 GS. There was no visible change. I did however notice that the splash screen (at least I think it's a splash screen, it's fullscreen and the same as the smaller splash) seems to have some issues with the actual image (doesn't appear rendered properly).. I also noted that after trying to run EVE, the Nvidia preview image in the control panel would refuse to render properly.
May not be related, but it happens with both my Nvidia cards tested.
This is most frustrating, any help appreciated! |

Well I had this problem a month ago with my dual 8800 GT it was the fact that the latest drivers for Nvidia at that time was not compatible with eve. Well atleast for my cards. So I downgraded the driver and eve works fine. Try that see if it works. Just to 6.14.11.7824 |

Thanks, Sen. I was about to re-install. Gotta love the simple fixes! |
