Hey!
When I was logging into EVE today, I saw a notice on the login screen about a special offer on Plex from CCP. Followed said link, and saw this "deal" from CCP.
CCPs special offer on plex
So it would cost me 489,99Gé¼ for a total of 30 Plex.
Then I went and checked out my regular GTC supplier (www.gamecards.eu) and saw they had a 27,34Gé¼ per GTC, which converts into two Plexs. Basic math brings me to 30 Plex costing 410,10Gé¼ buying from a GTC seller.
What I can't understand is what's up with CCP saying it's a special offer when it's actually 79,99Gé¼ more expensive than buying from one of the GTC seller. Am I missing something? Either CCP is naive enough to "not know" how much the GTCs go for or ....
TL;DR
CCP sells 30 Plex for 489,99Gé¼
GTCs convert to 30 Plex for 410,10Gé¼
What's up with this deal CCP? |

Pretty sure GTC is cheaper then 2 PLEX... so the offer is probably cheaper then buying 30 individual PLEX, but not 15 GTC. I could be wrong though. Does seem a bit odd.

Those Plex are "special" for those that cannot do maths and not really a special.

It works out even cheaper if you buy your gtc from shattered crystal in us dollars = 397 euros.
The graphics card offer is only worthwhile if you have 10 billion isk spare to spend on the 20 plex, to buy the 20 plex with rl money would cost you double what you can buy the cards for from a decent retailer.
I expect we will see a lot more of these offers to consume plex's and boost ccp's revenue. |

You know, it's really not that uncommon to find something on sale from a main distributor... and then search and find an even better deal from another source.
Do you guys even buy your own grocieries?

You act like CCP has ever had real "Special"s Even their "Most popular" bundle of 6 plex costs....oh my...the same price as if I ought six individual plex. What happened to discounts in bulk? |

This is normal practice in RL distribution deals.
The distributors get their stuff at a discount and can price it for less to get more sales, in return they advertise the product and increase sales.
It would be bad business if CCP were to undercut their own distributors ( i.e. sites like Shattered Crystal ), they would just tell CCP to go suck a fat egg and steer customers to CCP's competitors. 
TLDR: This is standard business practice. |

I can only see it as a sad event, when "standard business practice" envolves cheating your own customer on a "special deal" and no one sees anything wrong with it :)
I'll carry own buying my stuff from someone else other than CCP. At least the 10% discount I get there are actually 10% discount :)
EDIT: The buying my stuff from someone else does not mean I'm quiting. I'm just not buying Plex from CCP :D |

And there is a reason why I also refer to this as Spreadsheets Online as well, math saves you isk or in this case real money. |
