believe it or not, you can occasionally once in a blue cottage cheese moon have a short conversation in local like this with your ransomee or victim.
Normally if I come across someone who doesn't go all emo-raging on me I'll cut them some slack.
The more serious you take the game, the more prescious your tears are and the more I want to taste them.  |

I was curious as to whether these things still occurred - or whether things immediately descended to the "OMGWTF you killed my Osprey you baaad pirate man"/"OMGWTFBBQ I pwned you noob" level :(
Of course, as you say, some people take this game (this game) very seriously indeed!

heh...I'm thinking of changing her to a ugly crack ***** to better fit the qoute "Sometimes the protection you use just isn't enough"
I havn't completely decided yet :P
On topic. yea. People take teh game way too serious. However translating real world ownership over to pixilated nonexistant items to further your self progression and accomplishments in game is hard thing to counter.

I imagine it's hard to counter in the same way that insane theories propounded by conspiracy nutjobs are impossible to refute. The standard response is something along the lines of "Well, it's all a ploy by The Man to cover up the Truth!". And there's no getting past that!

If someone doesn't go all emo-rage on me, I'm normally pretty talkative if I haven't moved on already... And I'll either give pointers or just chat. Met some pretty cool people after either I killed them or died trying to kill them, even got a few re-matches 
But if they emo-rage... I quickly turn on the "OMG I CAN HAS UR LOOTZ" 13 y/o persona and roll with it.

Well, at least you're honest I suppose - I'd imagine the attitude of the other person, as you say, plays a large part in how you react (even though you just blew up their ship, you naughty, naughty man ) |

I haven't had much experience in PvP yet, but my two encounters (Punisher vs Ret in a can flip and a Hulk in low sec) were vastly different.
The flipped Retriever pilot was semi-sane and did talk to me and demanded a rematch with him in something with teeth. Never backing from a fight I agreed and I he came with his main in a Cerb O.o Needless to say, my poor little Punisher with crap skills didn't last long. He didn't scram me though so I could warp out and keep my ship.
The Hulk pilot with T2 drones I engaged in low sec with backup just one jump away was far more nasty. I killed him with myself well into structure and actually thought the fight was exciting due to it being so close. So...
Me: "Gf, that was close!"
Him: "STFU NOOB! fight a real ship!"
Me: "T1 frig vs T2 Exhumer with T2 drones not fair enough for you?"
sort of. freely quoted. So...he oviously weren't of the kind type. I'd gladly fight something with teeth, but so far I haven't come across any ships in low sec I can engage without assured destruction. I only engage if there's at least a slim chance I'll win (like the Hulk). |
