Recently I was bought a navy issue omen from a corp mate. Since it is a faction ship, is it insurable for the full value my corp mate paid for it? Or will I get a mere 6-8 mil back if I happen to lose the ship?
Thanks in advance. |

you'll get insurance payout comparable to that of a t1 cruiser |

so basically i shouldn't be taking this guy out to pvp unless i've got another 100 mil to burn through (nowhere close to being able to get a zealot).

Probably not. Faction ships and pvp don't mix well unless you are filthy rich.
You'd be one of the primary targets for most gangs just for bragging rights. Folks love posting a faction kill.

The insurance cost / payout is the same as the T1 equivalent (i.e. CNR insurance pays the same as a stnadard Raven)

Faction BSs open up some possibilities with extra fitting room/slots and EHPs all around for both PvE and PvP...
Surely ppl use them for both, especially the CNR and the Mega Navy Issue which are relatively affordable.
Some ppl use faction cruisers too, especially after the latest changes which made Navy Omens & Caracals and Fleet Stabbers as good as or in some fields better than the T2 equivs. I have seen and flown by some Phantasms too...Guardian vexors (iarc) is good too, but I have never seen one in TQ.
Those ships are not hugely expensive either...most of them cost around 100-120M and such a hull is not "unafortable"...it's not like T2 cruisers (HAC/Recons) cost that much less or are insurable in a higher %...
Just make sure you know what you are doing...faction ships are acting like a magnet for enemy fire...that's why many of these are used as bait to insure the "big fishes will bite"...faction BSs have the buffer/tank to last a tad for reinforcements to arrive...with faction cruisers you have to be way more cautious.
As with all ships in pvp, do not fly whatever you are not prepared (can afford) to lose in a blink... Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game! |

All Ships (Faction/Tech II/Tech I) insurance is based on the NPC value of the building materials used.
Insurance is not based on players percieved supply/demand 'Value' of ships.
