Apologies if this isn't the right spot, but I was hoping for some advice or direction.
I've had an EVE account for maybe four years now, but my total game time has probably been four months if that. I really like EVE a lot but every time I reactivate and try to get into the game, I feel very overwhelmed with nothing to do and I give up. I'm really pushing hard this time to try and change that because I would really like to stick with it.
So I know the mechanics more or less, but I'm always lost on what to do. I've played with friends a few times and joined their corps, but at the moment none of them are subscribed so I'm more lost than usual. I've done a lot of agent missions, but that's losing its allure, so I'm looking for somewhere to go to get the experience that I know is here.
It's a pretty open ended request, and I've read a lot of other threads here but they seem to be directed at brand new people who've never played and don't understand the interface, which isn't really my issue. ;) |

Get into a (good) corp. That's more or less it; running around alone doing random stuff will cause boredom.
Alternatively, you could try joining Faction Warfare. It's easy access PVP (462642x more fun than agent missions). You can join the militia CORP directly, or join a corp signed up for faction warfare.

I figured that was probably part of it (joining a good corp), but I'm at a loss on how that happens. I imagine spamming around asking 'pls let me join' won't do me any good. :) |

Is Eve University still around? From what I hear they are a good corp for beginners.

Feel free to join EVE university for some basic courses, or drop an application with us in Solaris Operations.
EVE really comes down to getting in touch with the right people, or have the balls to go out into unsecure space and start pushing the envelope, living on the edge for fame, riches and thrills. There's no other way about it.
Solaris is industry based, with a defence wing, so no matter if you wanna do mining, production, invention, exploration or pewpew, you're welcome. And we appreciate nublings a lot. They're easy to shape ;)
Balance is important, but you will always adapt to changing circumstances and you don't whine about stuff you can't change. |

This will most likely get you into a scam corp who will rob you of everything you own and then proceed with permapodding you until you can leave. Not a very good idea :D

Thanks for this, I'd be interested, but I'm Gallente, does that affect anything (since I noticed you're Caldari and there's that whole war thing going on :) )

1) The war only applies to people who have specifically opted in by signing up for the militia - if you've done nothing, you won't be affected. 2) Your starting race does not matter. Anyone can sign up for any faction as long as certain requirements are met (having 0.5 faction standing). |

There's a recruitment channel in game, and there's a recruitment forum. |

That will not affect anything since we're not part of the Factional Warfare system at the moment.

Hello mixvio,
I agree with the others. Getting in the right corp is usually one of the key ways to improve your fun level and your direction. Good luck with your application in Solaris Operations. I hope things work out for you there. However, if you would like to get to know a friendly corp of Gallenteans like yourself, you can send an eve-mail to me, Steve Miner, and let me know when you will be on and in what solar system or region of space you will be in. I hang out mostly in Verge Vendor, but right now I'm over in Amarr Domain space checking out the area. The best time to meet up with me is on Saturdays, as the my visits to Eve-online on other days can be spotty depending upon my work load.
The corp I am in is mostly a bunch of Galletean miners and mission runners who like to have fun while exploring the eve universe. Check us out if you are not sure if the other corp is a good fit. Best of luck to you, and remember that half the fun of eve is the people. This means that a lot of the time you either want to be shooting AT someone, or mining, missioning, trading, or whatever WITH someone. |
