first i realize that if i want to get in random fights with npc pirates i need to go to 0.5 space or below. is there a way to search for neaby 0.5 space? is 0.5 or 0.4 space where it becomes unpoliced?
what agent npc corp should i talk to for more fighting missions and how do i find them? i am really getting sick of courrier missions.

NPC rats spawn in .8 and below i think.
You can find the sec ration of other systems on the map by clicking on the 'color by security status' button.
Generally the pirate corps and the empire navies give out the most kill mission. You should be able to do a corporation search for 'Republic navy' or whatever corp you want to work for then in their info window you can click on the 'agent' tab and it will show where all the agents from that corp are.

If you're new to the game I would not recommend hunting pirates (rats) at 0.5 or lower. Fight the easier ones in the asteroid belts of 0.8 0.7. An average frigate shouldnt have a problem taking them out.
Also talk to spacelane patrol if you want some serious License to Kill missions. Their AGent levels usually reflects the difficulty of the pirates _______________________________________________

Edited by: Harry MacDougal on 02/08/2004 06:36:26 Two questions related to this post. First, how far down do you have to go to get Cruiser spawns? I just got a rupture and I'm dyin' to try it out. Secondly, how does one armor tank? THat's been recommended to me for my new ship, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Thanks!
edit: BTW, spacelane patrol is great for learning how to npc fight! Plus you can get some implants from them at lower level agents(+1 and +2 perception). --------------
Your 720mm Howitzer Artillery I perfectly strikes Guristas Spy, wrecking for 411.2 damage. |

For thos eof you that are starting out with combat: I would reccomend doing gent missions more than killing random NPC's. The agent rats give both faction to the corp/entity of your choice, along with a mission payment, rat bounties, and loot from the rats.
If you just hunt random NPC's, you have to hunt around for them constantly. It's just nice to be able to log on, and get right to killing stuff.
Also, the more agent missions you do, the higher faction you earn, and become trusted by better agents, who give better rewards.
I did agent missions for about a month, and doing L2 missions I got an implant, and never had to buy ammunition because the bonus rewards were typically ammo.
It's just a manner of personal preference though.
To the other player who had a question on how to armor tank, armor tanking involves putting on armor hardeners, extra armor and armor repairers. Then you don't worry so much about your shields getting knocked down, you just keep your armor going with repairers.
Ammarr ships do this best, due to their high number of low slots on their ships. Caldari are worst, but they are all about shieldtanking.
Don't mix both, do one or the other. If you mix shieldtanking and armortanking then you won't be good at either.
Hope this helps.

I have found low level cruiser spawns in 0.3, better ones (110k and even a commader 550k thorax spawn) in 0.2 and u get the better ones (3xcruisers) in 0.1

Gotta be careful though when just starting out with the rats - Jubba's been doing some hunting and missions in 0.7 space and generally the rats have been most managable for my new 20k isk frigate - until Jubba warped into a field and there were a couple of big NPC pirate ships which took me down to the hull in the time it took Jubba to assess the situation and warp out. Poor Jubba...
Guess the secret is to warp in at 60k, scan and assess whats there at your lesiure, and only then engage if desired. ------------------------------------------------

Oh, and Caldari Navy gave me the kill missions - and that was in an 0.9 system (Jita) so you can stay comfortably close to civilization and still get a pretty good fight. ------------------------------------------------
