Can a ninja looter come back and kill you with his gang if you shoot him?
I'm confused. Corp mate say only the looter can shoot back, forum posts say otherwise.

If he flags himself to you, you and your corp can shoot him. He can only shoot at people who have shot at him. No-one can shoot at you until you shoot at or otherwise aggro'd them.
However, once you've aggro'd, he can shoot at you, and of course his buddies can remote-rep him as much as they like. This will aggro them to you as well, and this is where things often turn confusing and unpleasant; the remote reppering buddies turn blinky red, so people assume that they've attacked. Often, this means some noob decides to shoot at them, adding himself to the list of fair game.

So, at the risk of being a little OT, how *can* you tell which of those guys has actually attacked you, and which has not? Is there some way to know?

Pay attention? That's about it really.. The one actually doing damage to you have shot at you...
(ie, if your surrounded by 6 blinky people, and tanking the damage fine, then only 1 of them is shooting you, so for gods sake don't smartbomb) |

Pay attention. Failing that, mouse over the aggression timer at the top left of your screen.

Everyone here has given you bad advice. You should fit a neut on your ship and if you see anyone come into your mission who is not part of your corp or gang you should neut em. Since you are not actually shooting at em Concord will not come in and bother you. It's kind of like shooting across their bow, fair warning and all that.
I wouldn't steer you wrong.

This.
Also, use smartbombs to uncloak them. Lots like to hang out cloaked close to your ship. |

True, most ninja salvagers fly smallships and use AB's to tank rats and MR's, neut them dry and the rats will eat them.

As pointed out before only the person you shot at can come back and attack you, however as also stated there is nothing stopping his buddies remote repping him to give you aggro on them, or even them stealing from your unlooted wrecks giving your whole Player Corp aggro on them.
I can not stress enough though that if a salvager causes himself to give you aggro it is usually because he's 99% sure he can come back and KILL you. You best defense, don't shoot him in the first place. Yes I will get booed at by my fellow Ninjas, but it's important to educate you mission runners so you'll hopefully stop crying so much on the forums... and quite frankly their are many more of you mission runners that don't bother to read the forums, so targets will always abound.
Originally by: mrscary So, at the risk of being a little OT, how *can* you tell which of those guys has actually attacked you, and which has not? Is there some way to know?
As stated... NO. Pay attention, shoot ONE target at a time. It's called fire discipline, learn it, practice it.
[EDIT] I'm sorry, I had missed the obvious here as The above post shows. Good catch.
Originally by: Vampasha Drones will attack the blinkies?
This I'm not sure about, I've heard contradicting theories. Perhaps if your Drones are set to Aggressive they might attack another "flashy" if you lose lock on a target, or don't pay attention after defeating one target of many... again, this is pure conjecture.
Originally by: Vampasha Do the remote reppers get agroed like the thief to your corp or just you?
A remote repper becomes "flashy" only to the person or persons the original target has engaged. This is significantly different from when a "Neutral" remote reps a War Target. In such cases the remote repper would become flashy to all the target was at war with.
In all cases only the regular 15 minute aggro timer exists.
