Here is an easy solution to the multiple characters being allowed to train. First off I think they should be allowed to train, and at full efficency to, if players want to fill there corp with multiple copys of themselve so be it, I think thats not going to be as much of a benifit to the corp as a hinderance. It takes up one slot that another player could have and they can only play one of thoughs three characters at a time. Now the simple solution should the worry be that people with abuse the system is have a rank system for the three player characters. rank 1, 2, and 3 with this determines how long that characters skills train, 1 is the normal rate 2 is 1.5x that rate and 3 is 2 times that rate. the reason its not 1x 2x and 3x is that it becomes completely unreasonable in the training time for a character beyond that. I think this system is a good idea for CCP to implement if they are to worried about power gamers having 3 high lvl characters. the fact standing that they can only play one character at a time I think is determent enough to keep high lvl gaming in check.

You'd change your mind if you were jumped by 2 pirates, kill one, and he logs off, and logs onto his 2nd character (still enough skills to destroy you) who is at the exact same location, who pops up and continues the fight.

although a nice idea, you have to think of the various ways people will exploit it (and they will, believe me)

Logging off and on to gain an advantage is no hurdle for someone who wants it bad enough (or is on summer break).

Yea but you could just log off, login as another character and wait till the danger passes. The same thing can happen weither or not you train multiple characters, everyone is still on an even playing field, and its not hard to keep a character training even with A)work B) Volunteering C) friends and finally D) a significant other, be that girl or boy friend. trust me I do it and I manage to always have my character training in somthing. All it takes is 5 minutes to log on and pick a skill fit to the time your away for. The complaints about power gamers who spend all day online buffing up there characters are unjustified I think. The fact that you don't have to be online to train keeps thoughs of us who can't play all day just as beefy as thoughs that do. As for jumping in fighting logging off then taking another character, your problem, if you stick around after they go how stupid are you, and you could just as easily log off to.

Training while offline is the best part about this game, IMO. I wake up, turn the comp on, log on to Eve, see that the skill I was training is done, pick another one, turn off comp, go to work, come back and pick another one. It adds a great deal of interactivity to the game and keeps you involved.

Training of multiple characters simultaeneously would be a detriment to the game as a whole in my opinion. It is very much preferable to have players who are specialists in a certain area be in demand rather than have a single player fit all roles. Given sufficient time players will develop multiple characters with the way it is now. Why rush the process?

Personally, I'm of the belief that there shouldn't be "alternative characters" in the game anyway. Design a character, play it, kill it if you don't like it and make a new one.

Only having one character makes you care a lot more about it and playing the game well, whatever profession you choose.

Having multiple toons is the way to go for me... I like having one that is a fighter and one that is a miner and well hell this one is the corp leader. But to get any of them anywhere it is a sever pain in my buttox!

This guys skill list alone is 889 days of training. My fighter is sucking and my miner is just getting into a retriever tomorrow. Then its back to the fighter to get into assault ships by mid April. "Why the rush?" well I don't get to play that often and have spent the last 4 months just get where I am at today. I would however like to be able to defend myself or get a decent return on my time when mining. Just let me train all my toon's so I can play the one I want, when I want, in the limited time I have to play it.
