When ratting in 0.0 this evening, I came across a spawn of 3 serpentis transport ships in a belt.
Once I took them out, the lot was 1 hold full of 56k nox and 2 holds full of 6.25mil trit each.
I've never seen a spawn like this before - how common are they? |

Fairly common, a bit more common then faction spawns I think _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

Ive seen about 3 of these in my 2 months out in 0.0....very lucrative but a pain to haul if you havent got a freighter. |

Edited by: Grista on 02/02/2009 04:27:00 They're the most common 'rare' spawn. Haulers, Faction, then Officer. Always check their wrecks. Although Trit and Pyerite are the most common drops, sometimes they will have very valuable minerals like Zydrine. |

Thanks.
How do I know if I have a faction or an officer spawn?
I know with the haulers it's pretty obvious as it's haulers that appear and are named as such, but how would I know if say, I had a faction or an officer spawn?
And yeah, bit of a pain to clean up the transport loot, but a Badger II with 3x Expanded Cargo Hold 2 can shift the 6.25mil trit in 4 trips, so it's not *too* bad for the money.

Officer usually a name infront like Tairie of Brokora for example or how ever there spelt.
Faction spawns usually like Dread Guristas - Dark Blood - True Sansha - Sentient Drones - |

You have 4 types of haulers (usually Trailers < forgot < Convoys < Carriers). In Tritanium volume they give you 3.125M, 6.25M, 12.5M and 25M / ship.
When you stumble on 4 Carriers, you better be in a station system if it's all trita.
Also, some say they have found morphite in these but never saw that myself. |

Oh look, we have a reason to use an Orca or Rorqual in 0.0 now! Oh wait...

Quote: How do I know if I have a faction or an officer spawn?
Faction will be named according to the npc type, "Shadow Serpentis Rear Admiral", "Domination Warlord", "True Sansha ..." etc. Don't confuse the common rats (some of which warp scram) which have higher resists (e.g. Arch Angel) for faction (e.g. Domination). Faction have a few times the normal bounty, and can yield T2 salvage components.
Officers will have a specific name "Brokara ...." etc and have a huge bounty (20M +), although the valuable stuff is the drop and salvage.
Since no one mentioned it, always kill the hauler/faction/officer BEFORE it's escort. Kill it immediately, loot it, and salvage it. Hauler spawns don't yield T2 salvage, and you actually don't want to salvage them if you're planning on hauling the minerals away.
Also, you're right that given trit price increases, Trit drops aren't bad anymore, if they happen in an area where it's convenient to haul them out. Pyerite was, and remains, the worst drop. |

Trit drops where never bad, so long as you had a convenient way to move them.
Even when trit was 'cheap', a good hauler spawn still saved you from having to move a freighter full of trit from empire to your outpost. _______________ <Q> QUANT Hegemony Item Database

Those seem actually rarer than faction spawns (in 0.0), or might depend on the region you in. From corp logs over some Guristas / Sansha space, I can see:
- 708 faction spawns, 466 hauler spawns and 18 officer spawns. Might be that everyone didn't kill all the hauler spawns they saw -> about as common as factions perhaps.
- You could expect to see faction OR hauler spawn every 20 spawns you clear, on average.
Distribution of those detected mineral spawns were (each spawn having 1-4 ships): Count Name Bounty BaseMins
- 117x Hauler 250k 3.1M Trit
- 98x Convoy 750k 12.5M Trit
- 81x Carrier 1000k 25.0M Trit
- 81x Trailer 500k 6.5M Trit
- 36x Transporter 75k
- 27x Bulker 85k 2.0M Trit
- 24x Trucker 65k
- 1x Loader 15k
There are a few more obscure ships classed as NPC haulers, but haven't seen trace of them.
It seems that chance to find trit from hauler is around 50%, then 25% chance to find half of base amount of Pyer, and so on towards deeper end. Roughly something like that; don't have statistics about it. - Lasse WTB full director API keys to collect such stats from large NPCing corps..

I got 10 of them (ships) for 250m units of trit in 10 hours of ratting once in c1x. i would say 3 times or more common than faction spawns. |

i have actually gotten more faction spawns( i dont hunt for them just through normal ratting) than transports. Transports do sometimes drop a named mining upgrade module which even the meta 1 versions are worth a few mil and the meta 4s sell for the same as higher end plex loot in empire.I just priced meta 4 ore mining upgrade in empire a couple of days ago for a few hundred mil. Definately worth killing the spawns even just for the chance to get the upgrades.

The named mining / ice harvesting upgrades drop from haulers apparently, which explains why they cost so much more than TII versions (400million for the meta 4 mining upgrade)

Edited by: Saul Reaver on 10/02/2009 20:01:14 You can get different types of hauler spawns. The best ones are the "Carrier" spawns. For example i once had a triple serpentis carrier spawn in G95 fountain which netted me 75 million Tritanium. 25 mill Trit in each wreck. I built my first carrier off that spawn:)

to trigger hauler spawns you kill all rats in belt and not just the BS's
just killing the BS's all trigger faction ships |
