Edited by: Lord Tipsy on 01/02/2009 21:15:24 Ok so I have 1.4 mill SP, friend of mine a while back sent me about 4 mill isk to get started.. Downloaded Eve Mon and now the questions:
I need to make a few million isk.. Right now i'm at 5 for caldari frigates and got good skills with missile launchers and gunnery. In a merlin with a bunch of 125mm railguns.
I'll need to farm roughly 25 million isk for my books to speed up training times by like 6 days which i can do running missions in a frigate pretty easily (right?)
Here's the questions: I want to go a corp-pvp route and have fun with some RL friends who are going to follow the same skill training set probably.. What sort of ship should i be building towards to get the most value first? Is specializing in small guns and frigates going to get me anywhere or should I just abandon training my small turrets skills any higher then 4 and go for mediums and cruisers then battleships?
After frigates there's the ability for drones.. i have level 2 drones and 2 level 2 scout drones right now.. what else should i go with?
Basically any help would be greatly appreciated..

Having frigate 5 is very good. It'll get you to Assault Ships which can tear trough lvl 2 missions. Fly it until you can get a BC, then you are all set for lvl 4's (drake with T2 launchers ftw) |

You cannot abandon small guns as they are prerequisites for the climb through Medium XXX Specialization and Heavy XXX Specialization if you head to larger hulls. Train all of those gunnery support skills and support skills as well. Drone skills can wait a while.
If you are not doing so already, mission-running can be made more lucrative by training up to get a salvage destroyer. I use a Gallente Catalyst, but if you don't want to get Gallente Frigate III, stick with a Cormorant. Salvaging wrecks can give you some good ISK to start. Doing so from your mission ship, especially a frigate with a tiny cargo-hold, will take too long.
DISCLAIMER: I do keep a Merlin fitted with a Salvager as my "I'm bored as hell with missions and want to go ratting" boat. When its cargo hold fills up, it's time to go back to the "wheel of carebear mission grinding" until I find that one true corp for me.

Depends on what you want to do faster. If you want to have a good ship for PvP quickly, training frigates to V and the small weapon specialisations is a good idea and its the prerequisite to med T2 weapons and Hacs. If you want to make some quick ISK it might be a good idea to train up some shield skills and BC skill to get the Drake with which you will be easily able to do lvl 3 and later on even lvl 4. It takes quite a while before you will be able to get the most out of an assault frig, you will be faster with a drake maybe, its your decision. |
