Hey all, so I have been running IV's in my Navy Megathron with no problems at all, but was wondering if there was any room for improvements. I'm also open to ideas, and to be honest, I've been wondering if my DPS is a little low for a Navy Mega? Here is my current set-up, as was once suggested to me by a nice passerby, albeit slightly modified.
Highs: 6x 350mm Compressed Coil Railgun 1x Small Tractor Beam 1x Salvager I
Mids: 1x Tracking Computer (Opt. Range or Tracking Speed Script) 3x Capacitor Recharger II
Lows: 1x Large Armor Repairer II 2x Mission Specific Armor Hardener II 2x Other dmg Missions Specific Armor Hardener II 1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Rigs: 3x Capacitor Control Circuit I
Drones: Varied Tech II Med / Lights
Is there a huge difference that I'm not noticing with the 350s? I used to use Gallente Navy 425's and haven't noticed a big dps loss. . .*don't ask what happened to the GN 425's*
My tank has been stable enough to take any amount of abuse I can subject it to, most missions I have 86%-91% resistance to the main two damage types of the mission npcs. Do I have too much tank?
What can I do to kill quicker? I really have no complaints as it is, but hey, if I can kill faster, it leaves less time for those stupid herons to come and steal all my lewts!
Lastly, I know faction / deadspace / officer gear is great, but I'm not looking to sink 5 billion isks into my Mega =D Maybe some of those items, but for those crazy people that link full officer fittings. . .I would like to make money off this ship =) Not lose it =D
Thanks in advance for any advice / changes you might have.

fit another gun. if you want to loot come back in another ship after the mission is finished.

I also use 425's, although just best named, rather than faction. I find a target painter also to be useful, more so than a tracking comp. It gives me better hits, even when I am far away.
And personally I am a fan of an AB, so that when they are far away, I reach them quicker, if they are running circles around me, I can minimize the transversal speed..
Drop the salvager and beam, get a dsetroyer with for of each. |

Every time you fit 350s on a navythron, a kitten implodes. Please, think of the kittens. |

Edited by: Snow Banshee on 03/02/2009 10:54:36 350mm? 6 turrets? only 2 damage mods?
NONO.. you can do much better. here's my setup:
high: 7x 425mm t2, 1x auto targeting system ( require just 1 cpu) med: 3x cap rec II, 1x track comp t2 + track script low: cheap faction lar ( lower cpu usage), 3x faction damage mods ( > damage and lower cpu usage), 3-4x hardeners ( named or faction), 0-1x track link
rigs: 2x aux nano pump 1x cap
Since you have no cpo for a full t2 setup you should use some named or faction modules. good candidates are:
named hardeners ( ntype) faction hardeners ( example: gallente ) faction damage mods ( example: gallente ) faction LAR
You can also use a track link instaed of a lar .. dont require much cpu and help your tracking.
edit: @les : sincerelly you can do better: T2 rails are better than gallente and wasting a low slot for a cpr make me sick. Fit another damage mod or at least a tracking link. You dont need that much cap. |

Edited by: Diana DeVil on 04/02/2009 21:15:33 Ok, so this is what I ended up with, had to use a hardwiring implant to be able to fit (I don't have advanced weapon upgrades yet) edit: and sadly, i'm still 4.5 days away from Large Railgun Specialization I =(
Highs: 7x 425 Prototype Gauss Railgun 1x Auto Targetter II
Mids: 1x Shadow Serpentis Tracking Computer w/ Tracking script 3x CPR II
Lows: 1x Shadow Serpentis LAR 4x Mission Specific Shadow Serpentis Hardeners 3x Shadow Serpentis Mag Field Stabs
Rigs: 2x Aux Nano Pump I 1x CCC I
Drones: Still Various Tech II Med |

I would recommend following:
7x 425mm drone link
cap rechargers 100mn ab
lar 4xhardener (rat specific) 3x magstab
3xccc
With that ab you wont need so much tank when you can dominate the range. Also helps with tracking as the rats usually cant get too close.
If you have good cap skills and implants you could also use a tc. And if you know what you are doing you dont need to be completely cap stable.

imho now its good ( better than the above posted setup). some reasons:
1) drone link are usefull if you use sentry drones or want send drones away, but a rail ships use drones to kill rat that came close. So there is not much point to fit a drone link
2) 3x ccc . I have one of them and its enough, i never run out of cap so i think pumps are better
3)AB or non ab? I prefer have better tracking, i guess its mater of taste.
4) autotargeter yes or no? well it come usefull if you have locking shill at les 5 and advanced at lev 1. else nothing changes. Personally i put that module because there is not much else you can put. Once you fit t2 rails you will use much more cpu so i preferet put the tech 1 autotarget module (1 cpu usage), and leave the rest of cpu for low slot modules.
concluding. your setup now is ok. when you will go into t2 rails you will need cpu and downgrade the autotargeter to named/t1 |
