I have seen "rich" corps. or even corps with far larger numbers lose battles, and wars to the experienced pvp's who won due to their experience.

Yeah the rest of the game isn't as fleshed out as the actual combat portion.
I like 2 vs 2 up through about 5 vs 5. Beyond that, not very interested.
I do however like tying up other pilots looking for me if I'm outnumbered. I feel I'm inflicting losses without having to kill something.

Quote: Combat PvP is useful and I won't deny the fun that can be had from it, but to focus so much on these clashes seems a shortsighted measure in a game that is primarily about economic power and domination.
OOC: Will be about power and domination. Maybe. Some day.
Because at the moment the only thing power and domination can get you is access to more isk, and more isk will only get you more ships and modules for those ships.
And the ships in turn can only be used for two purposes: making more isk or combat.
If you're not saving that isk to get a station or something later on, and you're not using it to buy ships to fight with, it's just numbers on a screen. In RL a fat bank account will get you all kinds of nice things... in Eve all there is are ships and modules.
To me, combat is what it's all about now, and the main reason I still log on every day.

I think the big problem with current eve PvP is theres not really anything to fight over. Historically, wars have been fought over things that are of strategic importance, sources of food, materials and wealth like farmland and mines. The current eve game only has conquerable stations, which are a step in the right direction but not enough.
Right now, most PvP seems to be for the sake of fighting itself. If conquering a station meant that the enemy was denied the ability to mine in an entire system ie, sentry guns being placed in roid fields shoot those not in your corp. With this you'll see the large set piece battles to take over entire systems being focused on the one station as smaller smaller forces do not have the ability to overcome the stations base defences and defenders. This also links in closely with the economic aspect, as it denies the enemy the ability to produce as much as you can.
