The EVE Online trial will come pre-installed on all Rock Notebooks sold in the February and March 2009, presenting serious gamers with the opportunity to immerse themselves in an advanced, constantly evolving game.
Set in space, tens of thousands of years in the future, the persistent universe of EVE Online features explosive warfare, a fully-fledged economy and a complex society with a class system and its own representative democracy. With more than a quarter of a million subscribers, EVE Online is a sophisticated game that requires advanced strategic gameplay to succeed. Its single-sharded world enables players to build their reputations and achieve a real legacy built on in-world fame.
ôWe design and manufacture some of the fastest, high-performance gaming notebooks in the world, inevitably our customer base is primarily composed of serious gamers,ö says Nick Boardman of Rock. ôEVE Online is just the kind of advanced, graphics-intensive game that appeals to our audience. WeÆre thrilled to work together.ö

Gaming laptops? Does not compute. I'm European and I've never heard of them before.

Rock computers went bust last May and the brand name was bought by Stone Computers.
There were many people who were left in limbo with broken Rock machines myself included. Stone have since offered to repair and honour the warranties of Rock but it has been a long and frustrating process for old customers, taking many many months. Some are STILL waiting.
My machine got taken in for yet another graphics card replacement in September(it has fried 7 so far), it came back with the keyboard incorrectly fitted, after that the new graphics card lasted 20 minutes playing Eve before it fried again. The repair department is now saying my warranty is out of date and I am waiting for an update from them. For ú2000 I got a machine that has been no better than a paperweight.
So Tanya from Rock(Stone) I hope you are reading this and are remembering what I said to you about bad publicity coming to bite you back.
My corpmates will be laughing their nuts off when they read this promotion about Rock especially as they have lived through the troubles with me.
I did used to leave the Eve trailers on my desktop and many files with screen shots, my background was a picture of a Raven coming out of warp. wonder if someone at Rock saw them and mentioned it. ?

I wonder how warm those will be... a dual GF9800 (mobile version) with a quad-core processor on the best models. A desktop you can grab with you in a pinch. The crappiest one wouldn't run the premium client well, the others on the cheaper series should. The more expensive ones should do that well.
Still, "gaming" and "laptop" don't mix. If you can say that your hobby is "gaming", then a desktop it is. (Of course, if you have extra cash laying around and can afford one so that you won't be disconnected even when on a holiday or stuff, why not.)

Mine when it worked sounded like a hovercraft on steroids.

This. Only been nearly a year now... and even with reasonably frequent emails back and forth, plus their bloomin support system that loves to close cases for no apparent reason.
Grrr... shame my laptop only cost ú2500... oh, and they haven't updated any drivers for it forever so if I stuck with the drivers it came with then it's not capable of running anything modern on the games front. Good job I know where to find laptopdrivers...
