The new retail box will be availabe in direct download format only with an included .pdf of the cover if you want to print it out.  |

The code word for eve online in US gamestop is "battletoads". Theyre doing this as they dont want to overhype it and lose out on WoW sales due to people saving up pre-release. Phone them and ask them when they will have "battletoads" in.

I confirm this, I asked them to reserve my copy of Battletoads at EB Games in Canada and they confirmed Shipment in Mid march. Seems we will get our shiny new box a little after EU ; [

Amazon UK won't sell certain things outside of Britain, computer games being one of them.
I got caught out myself while trying to get a copy of a PC game for a friend which was made by a small UK based developer who had gone out of business. Eventually I tracked one down in the US so it all worked out.
Hopefully it will soon be available on Amazon.com itself, otherwise I'll be going up to the local mall and asking the local Game store if they can get it in for me/will be selling it. If that Amazon UK price is correct then I could expect to pay fifty five AUD for it, which isn't too bad for a boxed copy of an MMO.
At least I have an idea of how much to budget for it now.

Every MMORPG I ever bought in a box demanded to patch itself before playing. So surely Atari has long since burned the DVDs with a recent version of the EVE client, which will patch to the Apocrypha version when they install?

From the title it looks like you might have misunderstoof something.
The Retail Box is an alternative to downloading the game.
In either case everybody gets the expansion. It's included in your subscription and you don't even have a choice not to upgrade.

The details are available by Atari on Game UK (click "Product Details"), Eurogamer and The Escapist.
There is an actual DVD in the box. It will "include all nine previously released EVE Online expansions" (as Game UK described it), which means that the DVD client is the EVE Online: Quantum Rise client.
The Windows DVD client is the Premium client, an intermediate version between QR 1.0.4 and QR 1.0.5. It will autopatch to EVE Online: Apocrypha in the same manner as the current QR 1.0.5 client.
The Mac DVD client is a special Classic client with Premium content to reduce the autopatching size, a special intermediate version between QR 1.0.4 and QR 1.0.5. It will autopatch to EVE Online: Apocrypha using the same method as the current QR 1.0.5 client but the autopatch will be a smaller download.
Why the Quantum Rise client you may ask? There is significant lead time for pressing DVDs and the gold master was delivered to Atari on 15 Jan. We are still working on Apocrypha but it is coming soon to SiSi. |

Two things:
- I notice a distinct lack of mentioning the Linux client. Does this mean that CCP will no longer be offering the Linux client after M10? If not, will CCP please make an official announcement instead of pretending we don't exist and will just go away?
- Will the release be a hybrid Windows/Mac disk, or will there be separate boxes for each platform?
