Tried the 2.0.2 upgrade, and it did work.
Seems that the re-direct / static pages are not working correctly though.

Resource not found
Sorry but the page you requested:
/static/ecm/img/logo.png
I did verify the img is in the correct path on the server. I also configured the reverse proxy to see if that would resolve it, but it did not.
Some of the pages also say:
Loading data from server...
and never update
And a bunch of these got tossed up to my email: [Django] ERROR: No celestial found for id: 61000611 2.0.4.1 is out, it should solve these two problems

We have a step by step installation guide here.
The installation of ecm and its python dependencies is fairly easy, setuptools does all the work for you:
Quote:$ easy_install -O2 ecm
Since i am a total webserver noob myself, the best place to get your questions regarding configuration of your ecm installation answered would be our IRC channel: irc://irc.epiknet.org:6667/#ecm
Diabeteman is on vacation in some french forrest until tuesday though. Once he returns he could walk you through the webserver stuff. http://eve-corp-management.org |

I did the upgrade to 2.0.4.2 and it now works.
Only thing i'm having an issue with now, is the cron jobs.
Under 1.4.9 it was working fine. Updated it to the new cron url in the instructions, but it does not run.
If i goto the url via browser, it runs all of the scheduled tasks though.

well if you can pop on the irc channel we can help you out. tash and i might not be as good as diab, but we can defiantly help with most issues.
also depending on the page and what data is being pulled (some of the queries are not simple) it can take a little while. it shouldn't say it permanently. http://eve-corp-management.org/-á |

I have 2 questions: First of all, I am using shared web hosting (dreamhost), and have a lot of freedom, so I can install whatever to my home directory, such as the custom install of python I'm using.
1) Can I run this as fastcgi or cgi since I can't add apache mods?
2) http://pastebin.com/LHMpUWdR (i get a "we were ganked" error when pasting here. already put in a bug report for it. |

you are getting this error because when you compiled python you didnt have libbz2-dev on the system. get this installed and then recompile python and this will solve your issue :)
as for your fastcgi issue it seems that django supports this. havent done it myself but the docs are here. https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.4/howto/deployment/fastcgi/ http://eve-corp-management.org/-á |

Thanks.. Yes ECM runs on Windows.
Install these (when you have the choice, always take x64-py27):
- python -> http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.7.3/python-2.7.3.amd64.msi
- distribute (setuptools) -> http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#distribute
- postgresql server -> http://get.enterprisedb.com/postgresql/postgresql-9.1.3-1-windows-x64.exe
- python postgresql bindings -> http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#psycopg
- gevent -> http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#gevent
- greenlet -> http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#greenlet
- PIL -> http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#pil
Then add C:\Python27\Scripts and C:\Python to your system PATH.
The rest of the installation instructions shouldn't be different for windows.
I am a total douche on windows stuff (such as IIS) but on the IRC channel, there is a guy (Marcos) who runs ECM on Windows 2008 r2 (64bit) along with IIS and MySQL. You should ask him about the details.

seems that it doesnt have the project in the path. print out hte python path in the script and see if you can find out if what you need is missing. or if something is wrong. eg. i see in your path its '/home/compuwiz/ecm.redshift-gaming.net/oisecm', but if hte import is saying oisecm.settings then it wont find it becasue it will be looking for '/home/compuwiz/ecm.redshift-gaming.net/oisecm/oisecm/settings' http://eve-corp-management.org/-á |

Thank you very much, that worked! Sorta... How do you change the mysql host? It is looking for it on the local machine, I tried changing it using "ecm_host = mysql.redshift-gaming.net" under [database] in settings.ini but it is still looking for it locally.
This is passenger by the way ( http://www.modrails.com/ ), it also runs python via wsgi, not just ruby. |

Yop controller,
I need to add the handling of the database server host. It is not yet taken into account. I was presuming that people would have the server running in local
About the bootstrap WSGI script, there is one example in the "apache" folder of your ecm instance normally. It should work with mod_passenger if it behaves the same way than mod_wsgi. Be careful with the ordering of your apache directives. Look at the apache_mod_wsgi httpd config file into the "examples" folder for more info.

I'm going to have to say this is a pain in the ass.
(can't get it to use my python install.) I copied the dependencies to the folder, and it is loading ecm from there as I have renamed the folder to make sure, but it won't load staticfiles from there. Any idea why? I checked, I copied the right folder & structure (actually, I downloaded staticfiles as it wasn't in my python installs site-packages folder. (just an fyi, I'm usually pretty good at figuring these things out on my own without asking questions, though I am new to python and this is driving me nuts)

Controller Vrelk and I were able to get this working on dreamhost with passenger WSGI. It was quite a pain but it's working mostly. I'm finding bugs as I go and filing bug reports. Most of what I've seen so far are template problems.
The latest bug I'm seeing is that the site won't render properly on my machine at home but renders fine from work. It's almost like none of the Javascript is executing. I've tried both Firefox and IE and they both do it. I'm baffled by this problem. I guess I need to wait until Monday to try it from work before I can determine if my site broke.
EDIT: One of my corp members is reporting the same problem so I guess the site broke. Doesn't seem to be serving up static content any more. Will let you all know what I find. |

members try to register but get a internal server error.
when they try to re-register they get the notification that they allready did and should look for a mail. but the mail is never send out?
what could be the problem?

I'm facing a problem with my installation.
I guess the static files won't load at all as my instance is fully function but doesn't show any pictures or any kind of formatting.
I've gone through all the steps in the installation guide carefully.

Seemed like a great idea until I saw django.
I love Python as much as the next guy, but everyone knows how badly django turned out.
--
Considering the code is GPL I might have a look and see what I can do about a PHP/MySQL version; love the work you've done here, just unfortunate that django was the way you chose to go.
--
Back on hand, I don't see why you didn't go with WSGI or something that goes straight into the Apache server and can run as a CGI without having to suck so hard (again, django.) Hope you guys could consider switching to server software behind this wonderful application to something sane for v3 :P. |

you need to serve the static files seprately. for instance in apache you would need to alias the static directory to example.com/static. then the images and js will load properly. http://eve-corp-management.org/-á |

Im not using domain, just locally. I didnt realize yet how to serve it since the url http://127.0.0.1:8888/static/ecm/img/logo.png says that the thing doesnt exist and also the code just use relative references.
Setting anything in static patch doesnt solve a thing (or even leaving it blank).

I just have changed the settings.py and adjusted the static patch manually to my local server. Since im using this on a VM isnt an issue for me at all.
Also, I saw that you guys have done an association between one account and the corp characters.
Since im hosting it locally for a personal management, Is it possible to implement something where the ceo can group characters for a better overview about what character is alt and if its an alt who is the main? If it can be viewed as an hierarchy and has even a control that shows if the main is still in corporation should be nice too.
My corp isnt that small and some people used to have many cynoalts. Its damn hard to keep track of all alts. also, if the player leaves the corp but doesnt remove the alt its not that easy to figure it out.
If this is out of scope, a simple new details field can do the trick (this just need to appear at the char list too)
thanks

Any chance of a write up or something for dummies? I'm fairly new to this, usually work with Windows. I've tried about everything getting it to work on Windows 2008 RC2 x64 with IIS7, and no luck. Trying my luck on an Ubuntu VM, but again fairly new to this all lol. o7 |

Bumse, you need to have a valid email server on your server. Goto settings.ini and review the email server part of it.
If you are unnable to send emails even after than, just setup a simple smtp username and password for an existing email server.
Any more questions or technical difficulties, just report them on ecm forum.

I've got a valid email-server and it's sending members mails, it still returns the error on the page and mambers will not become activated even upon activating through the mail. however, I've _just_ upgraded to latest dev and trying things out. I'll get back with how things behave.
Still got a small beef with not being able to runt it in a sub-dir instead of sub-domain ... but that's another story :) Bring EVE into the 21st century, add some basic chat features IRC-clients have had since the beginning of the 1990's. Speaking as a person not so well versed in server software.
Would one be able to set this up on a home based computer?
With a linux install..apache etc...
What sort of hardware would that require??? Assuming a relatively low number of concurrent users(5 max).
Whould a rasberry PI be enough??? or a low end intel nuc??? or is a more solid server be required ???

Yes. Im using a virtual machine atm. You dont need nothing expressive in terms of hardware. A low end machine can handle it well enough

the first is becauase you are not giving access to the static files. these need to be served as well.
the second is because you have a dust member in your corp and the api is broken for them now. this is a ccp bug. http://eve-corp-management.org/-á |

However I am running into another issue.
ECM is working great except for the admin page.
url/admin/ is giving me an "internal server error"
any ideas why? I did install this in a separate directory 1st but was forced to move it to a sub-domain to get wsgi to work properly.

I've started getting some errors recently. I'm no sure why it has been popping up all of a sudden, but I suspect an updated system package is the cause.

Some mails contunues on for what seems to be pretty much each module triggered by the cron job, some mail just contains a single module, but I do think I see why.
I assume this has to do with the logs (writing to existing or doing a new date-marked-set). The log directory and all the files within are set to 777 and I've tried changing ownership between www-data, the user that is running the cron-job and also setting it to pretty much _everyone_ can do anything ... but the error still seems to be popping up.
Any tips&tricks for me here? :) Bring EVE into the 21st century, add some basic chat features IRC-clients have had since the beginning of the 1990's. Get proper chat hilighting into EVE! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=97035 |

The process that is running your Python interpreter doesn't have permission to write into the media directory. You'll need to either chgrp or chown the media directory to the same group as your Python process, and ensure you have at least g+rwx on directories and g+rw on files.
this is for linux systems found here :
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5543641/django-media-upload-errno-13-permission-denied
so to make it simple the user that is running the django instance doesnt have the rights to write to the files when it is running the cron jobs. This is causing the error.
Did you do the final step which would be : Quote:sudo chown -R www-data /var/www/ecm-instance
where in the above www-data is the apache2 user that runs the cron jobs and therefor the django cron aswell.
if you are still having issues look in this forum thread created by someone that had issues installing it :

If you followed the installation instructions the vhost file is located in yourecminstance/example. A symbolic link is created if you followed it and stuff should load as intended. Also for more specific help on the app you can better ask the tech forums of ECM. |

I was able to get it done with a clean install. Not sure what I missed but everything loads and looks good now.
Only issue now is currently with the: ecm.apps.common.tasks.outposts.update ecm.plugins.pos.tasks.pos.update ecm.plugins.assets.tasks.assets.update
modules. From the ECM web interface they just read 'ERROR' when trying to update. The first time loading the eve dump it crashed on inserting... what was it, something like Celestial Objects into the database and froze the server. After a reboot and a second attempt it had no errors loading the sql file.
At the moment it looks like the only help is here. The http://www.eve-corp-management.org/ website is offline and my ISP has the IRC server blocked.
Should I attempt to reload the eve sql file with the ecm-tool or is there a better way to just fix this one missing table? |

Hello all,
I'm still alive and the project too :)
Version 2.1.3 was released a few days ago and I'm still looking for help !
*ATTENTION*
ECM now has usage feedback system which is enabled by default. This feature is really helpfull for ECM developers because it allows us to know how much the project is used and helps our motivation ;-)
It consists in a scheduled task that will run once each week and send *basic* and *anonymous* data to the official server http://feedback.eve-corp-management.org/. This is *NOT* a spying system nor a backdoor to enter your ECM instance.
To know what data is sent in detail, please see the source code at http://eve-corp-management.org/projects/ecm/repository/entry/ecm/apps/common/tasks/usage_feedback.py
If however you *really* want to disable the usage feedback on your instance, you need to go to the admin panel and change the scheduled task ecm.apps.common.tasks.usage_feedback.send_feedback to inactive.
Please update so we can know how many people are using ECM !!!
Thank you & Fly safe. --diab Initiator and CTO of Eve Corp. Management |

just because a site goes offline doesnt mean the project is dead at all. how can you decide if something is dead or not while you are not the owner of said project? Inglorious ****** :) |

That is a good point, but since I have yet to see a reply from the owner stating any different I will assume that it is dead. I know I know assumptions are the major stuffup of the world, but they also save time :) Evil is not just an alignment, it's a perspective |

i do believe it says somewhere way back in the comments that he rarely checks this forum and the best way to reach him is through IRC ....and i do know from talking to him months ago that he was no longer playing the game but he was still working on the program for us..he just may be unaware that the website crashed |
