As you may have guessed, I am a semi new player venturing into the prospects of joining a mining corporation.
I am currently running 2 accounts - one with the miner and another with a hauler (also a more combat oriented character as well). I essentially mine into a can, but instead of the can I mine into the hauler and therefore can mine until the 'roids pop.
I'm mining in a retriever and hauling with a mammoth (21Km3 w/GSCs) so you can fathom a guess at my personal mining op income.
My question to you, the readers:
What would be the top 5 reasons to join a mining op in my situation? Would I make more ISK/hour? (example).
Please also state why!
Many thanks!

Mining Boni's for a start and can get people to haul for you, so you can ditch that second account and spend the Subs cash on GTC's instead for extra cash.
You'll probably also have someone else to talk to aswell... and if you get in a mining corp that doesn't fail, maybe even 0.0 oppotunities.

I haven't got a whole lot of mining experience, but here's what I know from MEK's mining ops (things which any decent mining corp should have)
1. Increased yield (bonuses from Orca, Rorqual, or fleet commander) 2. Improved logistics (example: you could mine with both characters while a corpmate hauls) 3. More people to talk to (Mining by yourself is dullllll) 4. Corp ore buying program (you get better prices than by selling just to the highest buy order, and you always have a buyer) 5. If you choose a corp that's not 100% focused on mining, you can get advice and help when/if you decide to branch out into PvP, PvE, industry and manufacturying, etc etc. |

My corp has also just started offering mining in mission belts: More reliable access to ore with less hassle from other players. If you're just starting out as a miner you need someone to run the missions for you before you can mine the belts there. |

If you join a mining corp with a profit-sharing setup, you can:
1) Make ISK by selling the minerals to the corp,
2) Corp makes stuff with those minerals, sells finished stuff... end-of-month split on profit from that, too.
Not every mining corp does that, but you can find them.
If no profit-sharing, at least replacement mining ships (for the ones you'll lose eventually, even in quiet lo-sec spots) |
