I was curious how laser weapons do in PvP. I know they rip down shields pretty fast, but aren't so great on armor. All my experience is npc fights, so I haven't noticed a problem yet.
Can anti-armor drones make up the difference in damage?

These days everybody and their mother armor tank in pvp.
Armor tank means those ships will have exp, kin an therm hardeners.
Suddenly emp and therm damage aint all that bad vs an armor tanked target.
So answer is yes...lasers are good for pvp. At least vs battleships.

Indeed, and armortank typically has EM as second worst resistance, after explosive. That makes EM damage quite nice against amror as well as shield now. (yet another thing going for the Amarr atm  ).
Lasers are now (maybe after missiles) the most widely used weapons in pvp. Apocs and Armageddons together with Scorpions and Ravens make up large parts of the BS fleets.

depends what ship you're fighting against, a tempest or typhoon will have em at 70% and thermal at 67.5% - the highest 2 resistances.

Did you just say Exp and EMP are worst resistance? Awesome, time to change back to Howitzers and fit EMP ammo!

Well, to correct myself, the EM and expl resistances are lowest on a typically armortanked megathron.
As pointed out, this is not so for all ships.
